In this hilarious send-up of Lovecraftian horror and steampunk adventure, President Abraham Lincoln's top spy is a bodyless head known only as Screw-On Head.
When arch-fiend Emperor Zombie steals an artifact that will enable him to threaten all life on Earth, the task of stopping him is assigned to Screw-on Head. Fortunately, Screw-On Head is not alone on this perilous quest. He is aided by his multitalented manservant, Mr. Groin, and by his talking canine cohort, Mr. Dog.
Can this unorthodox trio stop Emperor Zombie in time? Does Screw-On Head have a body awesome enough to stop the horrors that have been unleashed? Where can we get a talking dog?
All these questions (O.K., maybe not that last one) will be answered when you watch the thrilling tale of The Amazing Screw-On Head!

Folks, this is as glorious as animated television gets. Paul Giamatti, David Hyde Pierce, and Molly Shannon provide vocal talents. The animation style wonderfully brings to life the shadow-heavy visual style of Hellboy's Mike Mignola. It's premiering on the Sci-Fi Channel soon, but you can watch it online at the above link. Watch it, watch it again, fill out the survey and tell Sci-Fi to make a whole series from this pilot, then go running outside to rave maniacally about it to everyone you meet. It's that good.

Done and done. Thanks for the link to that, big fun. David Hyde Pierce in particular is a hoot ["I'm so excited, I made water in my pantaloons!"] Has Sci-Fi not committed to a full run of the show? It would be sad if they dropped it in favor of wrestling and the 14th hour of "Stargate". Seriously. Isn't one hour of Stargate a week enough?

Looks great!
It's from Bryan Fuller, who did DEAD LIKE ME, which we loved... definitely an under-rated show (which deserves it's own thread here).
best,

Sci-Fi is running "Dead Like Me" too, starting next week. Tuesday night. I think that's when their new series "Eureka" also debuts.

http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=77342Here's an interesting interview with Bryan Fuller, where he discusses casting voice actors and adapting Mignola's comic. Evidentally, Paul Giamatti was a fan of Mignola and SCREW ON HEAD before they even approached him about the cartoon.

Just thought I'd revive this thread from its moldy grave to celebrate the DVD's release. I finally got my Deep Discount order of this and the Hellboy anime this week for a big Mike Mignola cartoon fest. It's only a 22 minute feature, with a 14 minute documentary extra and commentary track. But you can find it in some stores and online for about $10 or less. And if you like the idea of a Monty Python-esque Victorian gothic steampunk anime involving zombies, vampires, werewolves, mummies, a Lovecraftian demi-god, and a fervently-patriotic bouncing lightbulb... Well, baby, this is your bag.
Plus, they kept the box art just like the comic, instead of some cut 'n paste hack job. Good thing Lionsgate understood that there was no sane way to pitch this to the mainstream.
