Description: opinions???

I saw this today, as the boss is not at work for the whole week and some joker brought this in to watch, instead of doing busy work.
I thought the first twenty minutes or so were semi creepy, with the two girls in the abandoned town. But I also thought that the film went to hell as more characters arrives and attempts were made to explain things.
i also thought the acting got progressively worst throughout and peter o'toole lots pretty bummed to be in this movie.
Just wondering what others on here thought???

I saw this sucker theatrically and have tried to forget it ever since. Awful, awful movie devoid of anything interesting that somehow manages to make O'Toole dull. Terrible!

Saw this theatrically as well. Not aggressively bad, just kind of generally dull and pointless. Not even really bad enough to be amusing. For that, Dreamcatcher takes the cake in a similar type of movie.
You've crossed a line. The CURTIS LINE!

From the same director who managed to really screw up HALLOWEEN 6, such as what it was to begin with. I won't even go into his comments on Donald Pleasance here.
Saw PHANTOMS in the theatres as well. All I can think of right now is the PHANTOMS reference in JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK. I think that sums it up for me ;).

When Peter O'Toole received his lifetime achievement Oscar, I was sitting at home yelling, "You were the bomb in PHANTOMS!" :D
Seriously, while it's clear he's waiting for a paycheck, Peter's monologue before the climax was still rather effective, a glimpse of what he was/is capable of, why they decided to hire him as opposed to any other older out of work name.

This was a major disappointment to me. I read the entire Dean Koontz novel in one summer evening when I was a teenager. It scared the bejesus out of me. Then the movie came out....and well there you go. What a waste of a good story.

I doubt O'Toole was TOO bummed to be making PHANTOMS, as I heard from a good source that Mr. O'Toole and Miss McGowan became quite "friendly" during production.
I say, good for him :-)

I say, good for her.
Dude, anyone who picks the stage name "Peter O'Toole" has got to have something magical going on in his pants.

Enjoyed the book, enjoyed the movie. Neither much special (aside from Ms. McGowan), but both delivered on the pseudo-Lovecraftian mayhem.
Would have enjoyed a Lovecraftian fate for Affleck, though. Sigh.
