Has anybody seen this new release on Universal?
According to the packaging it runs 127 mins, has a screen ratio of 1.85:1 and is anamorphic. Sound is DD 2.0 english.
I suspect that this is a Scandinavian release only at the moment.

News to me, also interesting that Universal is on there with Studio Canal ( this was a Paramount film ). Maybe Paramount wants nothing to do with it?
I have not seen the 2004 German release either and it would be nice to know if either of these are uncut.

Paramount released the film in the U.S., but it was first and foremost a Dino DeLaurentiis-financed production, and a lot of the overseas rights to his product is owned by StudioCanal, so it's probably less of a Paramount divestment and more of just taking advantage of a more adventurous company.

Yes, Paramount only handles the film in North America. As with all his films, De Laurentiis sold foreign rights separately to other distributors.
Since this R2 disc appears to be a legit release, I suppose it'll show up at Xploited Cinema in due course.

MANDINGO is getting a rare big-screen showing at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on June 14, via a "CinemaChat" with critic Elliott Stein, who the prior week is screening Richard Fleischer's VIOLENT SATURDAY. Should be interesting.

Is it a double feature with DRUM? :)

I wish BAM would also stage the play that was also adapted from the material. :)
