Title: exploitation photos, ad slicks on JPEG for duty an

Kevin Heffernan - May 3, 2006 02:46 AM (GMT)
Hey folks, I'm teaching a class in exploitation films in the fall, and I'm looking for any cool stuff you might have either saved to disc or cached in your website favorites folder on any aspects of exploitation films from the 20s - 80s incl. ad slicks, poster art, wacky photos and production stills, anything that could liven up a powerpoint presentation.

If you could either post urls here or contact me offboard with any leads, I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

You might have more luck on a dedicated movie poster forum, e.g. Not Suitable for General Exhibition

Hey Kevin,

I posted a number of these images on a movie poster discussion board some time back. Thing is, these are hosted on my old AOL account which I haven't had for about a year now, so I have no idea how much longer they're going to be available. If you want any of them you'll probably want to save them to your puter as soon as possible.

I received an "error message" saying I tried to post too many pictures at once, so here's a couple more odds and ends. First up is a slick for APOCALYPSE NOW that I wanted to post just because it's such a rare/unusual art for the film, and then at the bottom are some examples of promo-art for a couple of my own, older, unrealized projects.

Thanks a million, Lars and Leif!

And Leif, I absolutely love DARKNESS and like to show the "country road resurrection scene" to my film production students as an example of style and verve on a minimal budget. Your movie is everything I hoped indie horror could be. It's a shame that the avalanche of digital video-shot horror of the last ten years has not lived up to my hopes, but your movie is a real corker and holds up nicely as a fully realized and original horror movie.

I have a couple thousand digital images taken from my film memorabilia collection (1910's to 2000's - posters, stills, lobbies, pressbooks, ads, etc). I've posted a handful of some here for you in relation to what your looking for:

Any specific films your looking for let me know and I'll see if I have any related stills, lobbies, posters or artwork.

Wow! Thanks a million right back atchya Kevin. Your comments definitely made my day man. I even copied the post and included it in the cast & crew DVD update I sent out today. I know Gary and others will be thrilled to hear that some of our little flick is being shown in a film class. Very, very cool. :)

DARKNESS: THE VAMPIRE VERSION, the newly remastered 2-Disc special edition, comes out May 30th from Barrel Entertainment. I'd love to hear what you think of the new transfer and edit when you get the chance. The first handful of reviews have popped up online -- so far, so good. I'll copy some links below.

Good luck with the class. From the looks of it I think Blake is easily going to be able to take care of the rest of your ad slick needs. (Edit: That said I found a couple more shots below.)

And Blake, great stuff man. If you have any more online, please post the links.
