these two any good? I've "heard" fair to bad things on both...

I need to get a Joey Heatherton in her prime fix B)

I liked both. Autopsy quite a bit more than Bluebeard, but the latter is worth seeing for the cast. They're both solid as far as euro cult films go.

hmmm, Joey Heatherton? I don't remember her in "Autopsy," which stars Mimsy Farmer. "Autopsy" is worth a rental if you're a fan of gialli, though I'd say it's ultimately forgettable.

boy, Joey Heatherton. Her numerous appearances on American tv variety shows in the 1970s permanently warped my little mind.

"I want to bear your children!"

Er, sorry, that's Lola Heatherton... ;)

I liked both films. BLUEBEARD is the weaker of the two but I found it very interesting with a great cast and some clever stuff. The nudity helped move things along quite well. :-) It's a little too long but boredom never set in for me. I was intruiged by its strange faux-Nazi Germany setting with a strange variation on the swastika design. It's as if they were trying to evoke the period without using Nazi symbols. Odd.
It's been a couple of years since I watched AUTOPSY but I've been meaning to check it out again. I remember thinking it had a good score and was pretty creepy.

Yes I know Joey isn't in Autopsy, but she is in Bluebeard... it's a shame she appeared in so few films...

I recently read a review of Bluebeard by Roger Ebert when the film 1st came out... the WHOLE review is about JOEY HEATHERTON!!! HE LOVES HER!!!

She according to Ebert has the best mouth in movies, with Mimsy Farmer coming in 2nd (read his review of Four Flies on Grey Velvet)

Speaking of Mimsy, has anyone seen THE PERFUME OF THE LADY IN BLACK?

Joey Heatherton IS amazing, and I had forgotten all about her being in "Bluebeard." Ebert's review of, more or less, her mouth is hysterical! I have always thought there was something subliminally pornographic about her screen presence. For more latter-day Joey, be sure to check out John Waters's "Cry Baby."

Yipes.

Ebert's panegyric to Heatherton's mouth is downright creepy.

I wonder if he typed this article with one hand?

I'm sure he has no recollection of ever writing this review - if it was brought to his attention and he had a look at it he would probably turn beat red for days...

actually when going through some of his reviews from the late 60's and early 70's they have quite a different tone, much stranger and often quite short - BARON BLOOD, for example - than those of the past 15-20 years. The early reviews often don't seem to focus on the film at all but just an aspect or two of it - i.e. Joey Heatherton's magnificent mouth.

I found a review of Lenzi's PARANOIA and in it he talks about how awful the movie SUCCUBUS is, I assume the Franco film, cause I couldn't find a review of it.

Read some of Ebert's reviews of movies starring Neve Campbell, particularly THREE TO TANGO. There's definitely some obsessing going on there. I'm convinced his four-star review of WHEN WILL I BE LOVED is due solely to Neve's nude scenes.
