Just finished watching the new dvd version of this one and it was great!!!This wonderfull feeling you get when you see a good giallo is there!!Also the opening song "Nightmare" was great, very 60's style!
Love to see more rare giallos released, like THE FLOWER WITH IRON PETALS,but i doubt if stuff like this ever going to be released..(sigh)

I just saw this one too. While it would be nice to see some of the more obscure giallos (gialli?) on DVD, seeing this one actually made me want to see some more of Margheriti's anamorphic films (2.35:1) such as WEB OF THE SPIDER.

Does anyone know if his SEVEN DEATHS IN THE CAT'S EYE is 2.35:1? The Prism cassette is so badly cropped.

I recently picked up the Kult X Rated DVD of Margheriti's NUDE SI MUORE as well and was very taken by the colors and camerawork.
I also enjoyed the rather light tone of the piece, particularilty the performance of Lorenza Guerrieri as Jill, the would be crime writer.
And it's always nice to see Luciano Pigozzi's face!
The DVD is among my favorites of 2004!

Jill in NUDE SI MUORE strikes me as being very much in the vein as another Bava character, Nora in THE GIRL WHO KNEW TOO MUCH.

SEVEN DEATHS IN THE CAT'S EYE was indeed 2.35:1.

Yes, I just received mine and can't wait to sitdown to view it! Another classic X-Rated offering for sure! The good thing about this is that the film is fresh to me me, since the DVD will be the first time seeing it!

Is the DVD in english?

It's my understanding it has both Italian and German language soundtracks with optional English subtitles. I hope I'm wrong and an English language soundtrack exists. By the way, does anyone know of the best price on this title? Everywhere I look it's between USD $24.00 and USD $30.00 which is way too much to pay for anything on DVD these days.

Eric Cotenas - November 5, 2004 07:10 AM (GMT)
There are only Italian and German soundtracks with English subtitles. It is unfortunate that there isn't an English track (much like their SCORPION'S TALE DVD). I heard the American version by AIP was cut, does anyone know if the American version was dubbed before or after it was cut?

Steve Genier - November 5, 2004 06:21 PM (GMT)
I prefer it to be presented in it's original language with the English in subtitles. Though the X-Rated disc tends to stray away from time to time, you still get the basic meaning.

Was SCHOOLGIRL KILLER shot in Italian? Bear in mind that the vast majority of gialli would be shot silent, with the actors predominantly speaking in English.

Most, if not all, of the actors spoke English, but the movie was not shot with live sound.

Does anyone knows any upcoming gialli for dvd releases?
