Title: Franco's (?) GOLDEN TEMPLE AMAZONS from Shriek Sho
Description: What film IS this?

This has just arrived today, and I'm confused... The cast and other credits on the box are those of MACISTE CONTRE LA REINE DES AMAZONES, but the box gives copyright to Eurocine 1985, which would indicate that the film is in fact that years LES AMAZONES DU TEMPLE D'OR (which is the film I'd expected it to be...)

I know Shriek Show's record is somewhat patchy, but have they really released a film with completely wrong cast list on the box? Did nobody notice? A quick check in "Obsession" and on the IMDb rang warning bells for me, so I'd expect the company releasing the disc to have spotted this.

Am I expecting too much???

Oh well, VENUS IN FURS and 99 WOMEN are packing at Amazon as I type... At least Blue Underground put a bit of effort into their releases!

You are right, Adam. I'm happy that somebody else notices and underlines it. One can say that a good transfer is more important that a correct cast on the DVD cover .... and I think so, too .... nonetheless this mistake clearly shows that SS released this film just on the basis of the title (that 'magic' Amazon word....) without actually knowing it. Honestly, everyone in this and other euro-cult forums would have at least noticed that Lina Romay and Alice Arno are not in this film.

Last January, I opened a MHVF thread on this topic but it was locked.

Hello Francesco. I thought you'd probably reply to this! As I said, the actual mistake doesn't bother me too much, as I always thought I was buying the 1985 film, but what does bother me is the lack of attention and care that this shows.

As you say, if I really had to choose I'd say that a good quality transfer was more important than accurate cover details, but is it so unreasonable to expect both? All they had to do was watch the film to see it wasn't the film that the box claimed it was...

They did the same thing with SAPPHO '68 and put Uschi Digart's name of the front cover even though she is not in the film. It is pretty apparant that they have just been using the IMDb as a guide. Their release of the cult film TENEMENT lists the first 7 or so people as credited at the IMDb, resulting in them not listing the leads and just minor characters.
