The screenplay for Guilty of Romance was written by Sono. The movie stars (listed order corresponds to order on official website) Miki Mizuno, Makoto Togashi, Megumi Kagurazaka, Kazuya Kojima (first listing), Satoshi Nikaido, Ryûju Kobayashi, Shingo Gotsuji, Motoki Fukami, Chika Uchida, Marie Machida (Machida Marî), Ryô Iwamatsu, Hisako Ôkata, and Kanji Tsuda.

Here's a description of Guilty of Romance from the production: "The new crime noir from the award-winning director Shion Sono. ¶ Three women are entangled in a mystery... that is the gate to a hellbound love like no other. ¶ Just before the turn of the 21st century, a grisly murder occurred in Maruyama-cho, Shibuya - a love hotel district. A woman was found dead in a derelict apartment in the pouring rain. ¶ This is a dramatic account of three women and their lives, seen through the looking glass of sex, words, madness, death, and family. Bombarding the audience with graphic images and assaulting the emotions with classical music, this is a movie that provokes all your senses."

Nikkatsu Corporation (Nikkatsu K.K.) plans to release Guilty of Romance theatrically in Japan some time later this year.

BTW, roughly forty years ago, Ôkata appeared in Katsu Kanai's The Desert Archipelago (Mujin rettô), Good-Bye, and The Kingdom (Ôkoku).

Here's a synopsis for Guilty of Romance from international sales agent Films Boutique: "Izumi is married to a famous romantic novelist but their life seems just a simple repetition without romance. One day, she decides to follow her desires and accepts to be a naked model that fakes sex in front of the camera. Soon she meets a mentor and starts selling her body to strangers but at home, she is still the wife she is supposed to be. One day a brutally murdered body is found in the love hotels district. The police tries to understand what happened."

Note that the Japanese theatrical version of Guilty of Romance has a running time of 144 minutes (according to Eirin (Eiga Rinri Iinkai / Film Classification and Rating Committee)), whereas the "international version" of it has a running time of only 112 minutes (according to Films Boutique).
