Title: Last House on the Beach...question?

Dean DeMarco - February 1, 2005 09:37 PM (GMT)
Just saw this interesting sounding movie, LAST HOUSE ON THE BEACH (1978) by Franco Prosperi, on dvd over at Xploited Cinema's site, and wondering if anyone could tell me how this movie is? Also, anyone who has this dvd that cares to comment on it?

I don't have any, nor have I heard of the company that put it out, "Media Suits". I'm a fan of exploitation films, as well as the beautiful Florinda Bolkan, but before I consider taking the plunge on this rather expensive, what looks like a Japanese import dvd, I believe, I'd like to hear something about it first.

Here's a link to it over at Xploited: http://www.xploitedcinema.com/dvds/dvds.asp?title=3796

Thanks.

Dean

Dean,

I haven't seen the disc myself, but I linked a thread from DVD Maniacs below where it is discussed:

Hope that helps!

I've got this DVD and can confirm that it is uncut (as William's link will concur) and looks a million times better than you've ever seen it before.

Well worth the (sadly unavoidable) high price in my opnion. Some great cover art too.

It's been nearly 3,5 years since I last watched it but I thought it was mediocre- I've seen better Italian exploitation movies. But perhaps the Greek cinehollywood VHS that I saw was not totally uncut- who knows?

Any Italian exploitation film that is released on widescreen dvd is welcome so I'll probably get this. But I'll wait to see if it comes out on US dvd- If it does it will probably include interesting extras and it will be a lot cheaper!

It's certainly an interesting movie, one that any Euro-cultist will surely want to see, and is boosted by an excellent score, but I thought it was for the most part poorly directed with more scenes lacking rather than making an impact, which ultimately made for a far lesser film than NIGHT TRAIN MURDERS.

Thanks for the input guys. Thanks also for that link William. It does sound pretty decent, but I'll have to hold off on it for a little while, due to my financial status at the time. Maybe by the time I get around to having some funds, (if that day will ever come), maybe there'll be a US release of it? Then again, my funds are low, due in part by purchasing so many dvd's with any extra money I may have at the end of any given week. Although extra money sounds a little redundant. :P
Kind of a catch 22, I guess, that I bring on myself.

Thanks again folks.

Dean
