Title: HAPPY HALLOWEEN
Description: I'm just sayin'.

Richard Harland Smith - October 31, 2009 07:41 AM (GMT)
Once upon a time, Todd used to do us an original Halloween card every 31st of October. In that spirit, I'd just like to wish all my fellow Mobians a very happy All Hallow's Eve'n and I'll see you, see you on the other side.

Thanks! And right back to you and all the Mobians lurking out there in the night.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN everyone!

Hope everyone had fun Saturday! Had a pretty terrific Halloween myself. After an impossibly long time getting my Frankenstein look together, I ventured out to a friend's Bob Burns-style neighborhood Halloween Monster Show. These guys are brilliant:

The Best Halloween Show In Brooklyn

And here's a link to a NY Times blog entry on the Brooklyn Halloween show. This year they did King Kong vs Godzilla vs King Ghidorah, live in an arrangement of cardboard NYC skyscrapers inside a private garage used as a stage. All the neighborhood kids were gathered with their parents to watch the buildings explode and the titans crash, with flashing lights, sound effects, classic music tracks, and even smoke machines. The monster suits were very impressive and I've rarely seen a finer example of geek love gone good.

Eventually, Frankenstein made his way to a friend's party, where he developed a fondness for gummi worms...

Last night was the wettest Halloween I can remember, which sucks after all the time my wife spent on the kids costumes.

Are you sure that isn't a back-from-the-dead Lux Interior?

It didn't rain until dark, which meant that the Jackson Heights Halloween Parade, the second largest in NYC, could proceed without incident or discomfort. The parade, which was headed up by Mayor Bloomberg, is mostly for the kiddies, who descend on 37th Avenue merchants afterwards for candy, and continue trick or treating for hours. My building also hosted a kiddie party between 3 and 5. I had a low key evening after that, which suited me fine!

I just took down all the decorations I'd put up in the office last week. Sigh.
