Blaxploitation film fans rejoice! On January 12, Warner Home Video will release a “4 Film Favorites” DVD collection entitled URBAN ACTION. It will include four classic Blaxploitation films from the 1970s, presented here on DVD for the first time on this collection: BLACK BELT JONES (1974, starring Jim Kelly and Gloria Hendry), HOT POTATO (1976, starring Jim Kelly), BLACK SAMSON (1974, starring Rockne Tarkington, William Smith and Connie Strickland) and THREE THE HARD WAY (1974, starring Jim Brown, Fred Williamson and Jim Kelly). All four films will be presented in their original 1.85:1 aspect ratio with ananmorphic enhancement, and the DVD will retail for $9.95.

As glad as I am to see these movies finally coming out, Warners is really shooting itself in the foot (so what else is new?) with this idiotic decision. For sure, they could do flashy Special Editions of THREE THE HARD WAY and BLACK BELT JONES and sell as many of them at a $19.95 retail than they will of this at $9.95. I have no idea why we know this and they don't.

Those "4 FILM FAVORITES" discs make it into Wal-Mart and Target.

$20 Special Editions of those titles wouldn't.

Glad to see these, BLACK BELT JONES in particular (guess I can scratch that off my blog list :) but....why no CLEOPATRA JONES AND THE CASINO OF GOLD?
