Cassandra Peterson and Peter Cushing, together at last!Saturday, Halloween Night, NYC's WPIX Ch 11 is bringing back Chiller Theater with Elvira hosting the 1964 Hammer film
The Evil Of Frankenstein starring Peter Cushing! Without a doubt, the stupidest and cheesiest of the Cushing Frankenstein films, but it has a dippy yet entertaining style about the way it goes about doing a traditional "square head" Frankie flick. It sticks its Frankie flick fingers in its Frankie flick ears and skips around saying "La, la, la! I can't hear you! I'm having too much fun being a Frankenstein movie! La, la, la!" And it's exactly the sort of movie Chiller Theater showed back when I was a kid and too young to stay up and watch. Except now with Elvira. And her boobs.
Definitely recording this one.

Back in June I finally got to see Zacherly's turn hosting TARANTULA from last year, as a friend in the area had been saving it on his DVR - the end was cut off, so I can't say for sure, but they didn't give him time to do much of anything - no amoeba, no nothin!
Hope the "Haunted Hills" fares better
I don't watch much TV anymore, so maybe someone can help me with this. You have an 84 minute movie, which needs little or no cutting (and I doubt we're getting the old broadcast TV version with the added scenes) that's being put into a 2 hour time slot. How much of that do you think is eaten by commercials? Will there be enough room left for Elvira?
Checking my recording from Saturday night, I'd say Elvira faired pretty well. Although this east coaster didn't get to see her show back in the day, I thought she was sexy, funny, and generally a great horror host. As expected, she ripped Evil Of Frankenstein a new one with tons of her insults and double-entendres. But it was all in good fun. This year, WPIX created a "Chiller Hand" station ID logo with the current time and temperature (why? we're on our couch, not outside!) taking up a good portion of the bottom right of the screen. Next time guys, keep Elvira and the gothic horror cheese, axe the logo.
If your weekend just won't be complete without watching Elvira tear apart a Peter Cushing Frankenstein movie with a slew of cheap burlesque-style gay and dick jokes, here's some clips at the WPIX website (you might get hit with an ad before the video plays):
