Title: R.I.P. Rino di Silvestro

The director of WEREWOLF WOMAN and HANNA D., among others, has just passed away. The latter movie is out from Severin in a couple of weeks, and includes an interview featurette with the then ailing director. RIP Rino and thank you for the movies.

The Severin disc looks very nice (although it probably should be 1.66:1 not 1.77:1) and shows off Franco Delli Colli's cinematography well. Di Silvestro's interview is 45 minutes and although he looked more gaunt than in the picture above, I wouldn't describe him as ailing in the interview itself. He's quite animated. He talks about the casting, his working relationships with Roberto Di Girolamo (which is probably how Bruno Mattei and some of his eighties collaborators got involved in the project) and Delli Colli, and goes into detail about his choice of the much-criticized ending. He does not mention CHRISTIANE F. and is adamant that HANNA D. was simply a story he felt he needed to tell (I think that he probably was inspired by the film but that he invested himself in the story more than one would a simple rip-off).
