This is the first that I've ever heard of this movie. I'm a little burned out on most anime at the moment (technically, I suppose you could call this anime without the quotes since a Japanese animation studio was involved), and I haven't been hugely impressed by much of the Russian pop cinema that I've seen, but based on the trailers, I think that this will be worth a look. I wonder if some of the imagery seen in the trailer is intended as an Aleksandr Nevsky homage.

For some reason, any World War II story told from the Russian/Soviet perspective usually piques my interest. Maybe it's the badass national anthem:
