While not
strictly European, this album by the
Secret Chiefs 3 is a perfect recreation of a 70's giallo soundtrack. Its all here: the Cipriani-like main theme (Sophia's Theme), the discordant Morricone-esque stalking music with wild female vocal (What's Wrong with Cytherea?) and even faux-Goblin (Zombievision). Secret Chiefs 3 is fronted by Trey Spruance, formerly of Mr. Bungle and Faith No More. Recommended to anyone who's ever bought a giallo soundtrack.
...and an amazing group to see live. Probably one of the most deverse bands out there: Surf, Black Metal, Gypsy, Turkish, Electronic, Eastern, Bollywood...and now faux Soundtrack. This release is actually one of their satallite groups The Traditionalists. Once Trey's finished releasing SC3 albums he'll break of into 7 different "bands" that play a specific genre. This is the first one. Anyone intrested should seek out their Rockin' surf cover of Halloween. It was released on a 7'' 2 years ago...
