Title: Can anyone ID this 1971 Swedish film?
Miles Wood - June 19, 2009 03:29 AM (GMT)
Probably from 1971 (when Nikkatsu released it in Japan) and stars Cia Roblen and Anika Enstrom and directed by Crystal Holglen. All names are translated back from the Japanese so spellings may be incorrect, but searches throw up absolutely zilch. Was this ever shown in its native country or anywhere else outside of Japan? I've not heard of Nikkatsu actually producing any foreign made films, but with the popularity of stars like Christina Lindberg in Japan could this be an example of them actually making their own Swedish softcore flick?
And yes, it is a great poster!

This is called
Eva: Swedish and Underage and is part of the Roman-Porn sub-genre called "Sweden Porno". There is more info about this in this book, but I can't check it out as I'm not at home at the moment. Perhaps another member who has a copy can extract the salient information? It's either Japan's own version of the Torgny Wickman exploiter or it is Torgny Wickman's version, as the hairstyles are pretty similar:

This is one of the Something Weird titles that was lost a few years ago when they purged everything from their catalog that could be misconstrued as illegal -- TEENAGE PLAYMATES, LOVE UNDER AGE, 14 AND UNDER, etc.

I don't have Jasper's book yet...one to buy asap! No, it's not EVA; the Japanese title for that was 「醜聞」which translates as Scandal.

Below is a link to the Japanese Movie Database (JMDb) entry for the movie in question.
BTW, with regard to the credited surname of the director (transliteration: "Horuguren"), "Holgren" apparently is the most common back-transliteration of it.
JMDb: Suęden poruno: yokujô shotaiken
Miles Wood - June 22, 2009 08:06 AM (GMT)
Yes, that JMDb entry was about all I could find, other than it was featured in some Japanese movie mag at the time. I've tried all variations of the names, and nothing seems to come up for any of them in searches, which is kind-of odd.
Sheldon Warnock - June 22, 2009 11:58 AM (GMT)
Note that the Sweden Porno series is (incorrectly) listed on the JMDb as "Suęden poruno" rather than "Swęden poruno".
A "Kurisutaru Horumuguren" is credited as having played Bronson (Buronson) in Swęden poruno: injű no modae; "Holmgren" apparently is the most common back-transliteration of "Horumuguren".
The closest Swedish name to "Kurisutaru Horumuguren" that I know of is "Kurisutâ Horumuguren" = "Christer Holmgren".
Interestingly, the following is listed in the curriculum vitae of Swedish actor/director Christer Holmgren (b. January 10, 1941) on the official subsite of his production company Riksfilm:

Talk of the <ahem> devil, I just turned up this poster...presumably not released on DVD (or even VHS?) anywhere?

And yet more devilish business: Notice the similarity to the RACE WITH THE DEVIL poster!

Which I fear translates as "no translation" ie. unsubtitled?
Martin Brooks - July 6, 2009 03:28 PM (GMT)
Yes unfortunately. There was an english language release print done in the early 70s, but I've never seen a dubbed version.

That's an ace poster for SKRÄCKEN HAR TUSEN ÖGON, which had an English-language release in Australia as FEAR HAS 1000 EYES! Here are the Swedish and Italian posters...

The English language release was titled THE SENSUOUS SORCERESS and it was released in Canada on a double bill with THE VIRGIN WITCH in 1973.
