I was working in a video store when they came out and the titles were always popular rentals. I was just curious if anyone here knew why Tarantino's Rolling Thunder label ended its run.
I would guess that Miramax decided to stop footing the bill, and Tarantino got busy with other projects, like KILL BILL.

The last few RT releases came out through the now-defunct Cowboy Films, not Miramax. I think Cowboy did HARD CORE LOGO and THE BEYOND. It's a shame that Miramax didn't seem to care about the films at all. CHUNG KING EXPRESS was the only one that got a real marketing push for its theatrical release. It was a great concept.
I met Jerry Martinez at a Comic-Con a couple years ago, and he pretty much said the same thing. Miramax never really gave the venture a chance, when the initial releases didn't have the immediate huge return they thought Quentin's imprimatur would provide, they bailed almost instantaneously and dumped the remaining pickups, either to video or by loaning them out to Cowboy Releasing. Darn shame.
