Title: Where would you like to see the new movie shot?
MaryMary5 - September 1, 2005 02:38 AM (GMT)
I realize they can't use the same places as the original movie. Also, if they are following the book, it would be all over the place. I really did like the fountain in Dallas.

I would also like to see the Water Garden in Forthworth used again in the new movie. It would be a nice touch...

It would ne nice to see any of the old locations used, but I have a hunch the filmmaker's gonna go the other way on it: all new. Looking forward to the Ice Cave. No Domed City this time, right? (I know it wasn't in the book, but I'll miss it anyway!) I look forward to the Crazy Horse scenes, as that's the only way we'll see a completed Crazy Horse monument in our lifetime!

Just as long as they don't use the shopping mall idea again! Been there, done that.
The Water Gardens was a great staple in the original movie - it would be nice to see a nod to it somewhere in the new film.
I'm hoping we get some great Black Hills/Dakota scenes - especially with Rutago and 'Wild me, Sandfella' Graygirl on their devilsticks!
And yes - Box's Ice Cavern is a MUST!!!!!!! :)

I'll always have a soft spot for the "mall"-style Arcade. For my 15th birthday, some friends & I went to Northridge Court in suburban Milwaukee & chased each other all over the place w/ flameguns. (This was before the US had a Dept. of Homeland Security.)
Does anyone else out there remember an incident some time within the past decade wherein a couple of school kids actually DIED in the Water Gardens? They were there on a field trip, got in to wade/swim (it gets hot in Texas), and the pressure sucked 'em iright down. At the risk of being insensitive, I can't help but notice that they were not yet 30. . .
I'm looking forward to the Dakota scenes, too. And to watching the lovely Graygirl & her fellow sky-gypsy-ettes "wilding" Logan, one after the other, all night long.
For that matter, if they can do the Love Shop as the house-of-glass it is in the novel, THAT'll be something to see -- and to leave the kids home for! ;)

Paulx -- here is the thread that discussed this tragic event and what the city of Dallas was proposing to do in the near future to avoid another such tragedy.

Thanks for the info, L.
Tragic indeed. And interesting to me how much of the incident I MIS-remembered -- like in a game of "telephone."
I did find it ironic that the newspaper referred to the "30-year-old" facility.
My guess is that the shot of L & J diving in was done in the studio on a set dressed to serve as a facsimile of the Gardens platform. . .? It doesn't look like there forms were superimposed. Or maybe there's a "safe spot," away from the suction, that was located for them in advance?
Was pleased to see I wasn't the ONLY one who used to hold his breath during that scene! Was it lack of oxygen that was making me woozy -- or the sight of Jessica swimming in that short, torn dress?

I still don't think there should be a remake of the classic film. There have been way too many remakes, re-imaginings, re-inventions, and re-tellings of classic films as of late. Artistically speaking, it spells bad box-office. Just look at the up-coming re-make of John Carpenter's The Fog. I still can't believe that Carpenter is behind that new version either. In a Producer's role. :(

Can you say... easy money ;) Even if it doesn't do great at the BO, it should do well in DVD sales (especially being released as a PG-13 movie) and turn a profit there.
But back on subject....
I think that they are still planning on shooting the new Logan's Run movie in either Australia (where they are presently filming Superman Returns) or Berlin, Germany according to producer Joe Silver.
