Title: New WFN Letter Feb 16, 08
Description: Remake update
Logan5 - February 16, 2008 02:46 PM (GMT)
Not much in the way of remake news - but Bill has sent me a new update letter filling all of us in on what is going on over at Silver Pictures in Hollywood.
Since the writer's strike is pretty much over now, hopefully things with the remake will start moving forward again --- ever so slightly.....
Read Bill's update at my World of Logan's Run Website:

I don't know how true this is, but I had heard that they had shelved the remake earlier in favor of making Speed Racer  It seems this production has been on again-off again for a long time.
I am happy to read that the movie will happen. I just hope that they cast people who can act, and not just put in pretty eye-candy 21 year olds for the lead roles. If I see names like Jessica Simpson, Jessica Alba or (God help us) Paris Hilton, I doubt that I would be forking over $10 to see it.

RunnerBlue, that's pretty much true as discussed prevously. Speed Racer comes out this year, while Logan's Run does not.

GAWD, thanx for pointing me in the direction of that discussion. What a drag (race)

Speed Racer - that looks totally WEAK.

The studios think Speed Racer will sell more tickets, and I'm sorry to say they are probably right. Any movie or TV show that comes off as too intellectual; too much of a "thinking" movie, never does well with the target audiences they make movies for. (It's why I look at so many independent films).
Heh, my husband just said that he used to watch Speed Racer as a kid, and that he had higher hopes for the film (from what we've seen in the trailers)

Remember that's Warner Bros. and Joel Silver for you: no Logan's Run or Wonder Woman; but Speed Racer comes out this spring!

Even as a young boy, I knew "Speed Racer" was stupid.
At least "Wonder Woman" had a tongue-in-cheek charm.
But LR is by far the most substantial; no wonder its remake is not yet in process.
The dumbing-down of America continues apace. . . :shake:

Heh, don't even get me started on that subject or we will be here all night. Let us just say that The Dumbing Down of America is a popular subject at home.
