I saw something on bestbuy.com about the re-release of the movie on DVD. Is there something special about this re-release, like a Special Edition of the film?
I remember the rumors about a SE being in the works by MGM and WB, but had not heard more about it since then.

Does anybody know what is going on? :)

On November 27, 2007 - Warner Brothers does appear to be set to release a new pressing of Logan's Run on DVD.

Unfortunately, there are no real 'details' listed on either site right now that reveals any additional disc information about this edition, other than Widescreen, single disc and Dolby Surround 5.1 English and Stereo French (although Amazon also lists AC-3). Also, subtitles.

Warner's site lists the new Logan's Run DVD case as an Amaray case -- http://www.dvd-and-media.com/dvd-cases-amaray.htm . I prefer these types over that sheapo cardboard one with the little flip close flap that was used for the previous Warner Brothers LR edition.

I'll post more info here as it becomes available.

If any one else out there gets some new info in the meantime, please post it here! Not sure if this is simply a re-pressing of the current disc or a new remastering.

Some more information I discovered today...

It appears that this release of LR on DVD will include Warner Brothers "Movie Cash" that MAY be used towards admission to see the December 14, 2007 release of Will Smith's latest vampire/zombie flick "I Am Legend".

I'm now beginning to wonder if this is indeed a new release of "Logan's Run" on DVD - or merely a marketing ploy to get peope into the theaters to see "I Am Legend".

If I'm going to purchase a new Logan's Run DVD, it better offer something new (new digital transfer, DELETED SCENES, new commentary, etc) for me to pony up to the bar again.

Think about it.

LR on DVD is currently available in the Best Buy and Walmart DVD Bargain bins at $5.99.

According to Amzon.com, they will be selling this 'new' LR DVD for $13.49

That's a difference of $7.50 --- the cost of a Matinee Movie ticket around my part of the country.

Nothing new here in terms of the current LR DVD price ($5.99) plus the price for ANY matinee ticket ($7.50) - and they would then be FORCING me to go see "I Am Legend". Do they really think we can't see what they are trying to do to us here.... :rotf: Is "I Am Legend" really that bad? :omg:

I saw the original film with Vincent Price (i.e. "The Last Man on Earth") which I thought was great!! I read Richard Matheson's classic short story 'I Am Legend" which I equally thought was terrific!

However, this marketing TRICK makes me think that the new movie is gonna stink!!

"The Omega Man" was also another version of the classic Matheson story "I Am Legend".

I personally consider the Vincent Price film to be the best (so far).

We'll see how Will Smith does this time around. Don't think he'll hold a candle to Price though....

The new Logan's Run DVD release is still slated for November 27 (two weeks).

Still no new news on it, but for now, I'm still sticking with what I believe it is - just the current disc with updated packaging and a Movie Pass ticket to an upcoming movie (perhaps 'I Am Legend').

Looks to be packaged with a Movie Cash promo offer for "I Am Legend", as first discussed here. Nice to see a change on this new DVD cover - that its not the same old white movie poster shot.

I saw it yesterday in my local Best Buy. Didn't buy it, but did study the back cover/contents. Appears to be the same release as before, just new cover art.

It is the exact same release as before - Double sided DVD (one side Full Screen, the other Widescreen) and same features and commentary. Nothing new feature wise.

Just new cover art and case.

The ticket inside is good for up to $7.00 admission for 'I Am Legend' - expires Dec 29, 2007.
