Sounds promising, maledoro. Thanks for the great links! Lets see if they can finally get this thing off the ground.

I myself read about this last week as well... I have to say I am a bit worried about the fact they are putting an un-proven director on this project, I hope he does'nt mess it up. After talking to a few friend I'm feeling a bit better about it, the general concensus is that a fresh new person with new idea's and no distractions ( from other projects ) is the best thing for this movie. ...I will defer to the studio's good judgement.

Well I'm back now, I wanted to report on this earlier. I must say it's very weird that Warners would let a unproven director on a major motion picture. That must have been some presentation Joseph Kosinski did to convince them.

Well, it looks like they have a great screenwriter signed up!

Tim Sexton has received several awards and nominations for his work already ("Children of Men" and "For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story").

Hopefully these two can put something incredible together!

btw - "Children of Men" kind of reminded me of a "Logan's Run" type story when I first saw it. Interesting that it's resurfaced in the LR world again.

Children Of Men was movie  ... I was in England last year...I thought I was watching a documentary on Liverpool.

I wouldn't call him "unproven"; otherwise, why didn't they pick someone else? Granted, Alien³ was a botched production, David Fincher did a remarkable job as the director with only music videos and Nike commercials under his belt.

On the contrary, we have Paul W.S. Anderson with a slew of videogame-to-movie productions and he still continues to put out crap, each time with a bigger budget.

Maybe we should just call Joe Kosinski --- "Mr Remake"!!!!

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Joe Kosinski is in FINAL negotiations for signing up to yet ANOTHER SCIFI REMAKE to add to his ever growing directing resume --

"TRON"

To me, this is now beginning to really spell 'D-O-O-M' for the Logan's Run remake in a variety of ways!!! :angryfire:

Unbelievable..... :shake:

If this does come about - the next obvious question is - which one will they do first.

If I had to bet .... my money's on "Tron". :wtf:

Which means Logan's Run will go back into Development Hell for another 10 years.....

The choice of Sexton as screenwriter for the LR remake bodes well. CHILDREN OF MEN -- which I saw (as it happens) in the movie theatre in Bend, OR, w/ Bill Nolan -- was my favorite film of '06. Expect a LR screenplay that's got substance to it, not just flash. BTW, Bill loved CHILDREN, too, so he's undoubtedly pleased that Sexton's attached to the new LR.

Logan5 please look on the bright side: this is actually good news!

Consider : Joe Kosinski wants to makes movies the SAME way he makes his comericials: all cgi greenscreened in with androgeous models possing as actors. That aproach is WRONG for Logan's Run and PERFECT for TRON !!!

So Joe Kosinski wants to make TRON instead of Logan's Run. Good riddance to bad rubbish, I say! Let Warners find a GOOD director for Logan's Run, not some wannabe hack !!!

Logan5 - September 13, 2007 01:13 PM (GMT)
Steve4 - I agree. TRON would be the perfect project for Joe Kosinski to work on.

I'm not entirely sold yet on the idea of getting a 'newbie' movie director and lots of green-screen for the Logan's Run remake. I honestly think it'll come off looking like a low-budget, rush to release job along the lines of "Rollerball" (especially if the cast a group of "The O.C" for the cast). If they're shooting for 'low-tech - low budget' now, don't expect to see any of the actors and actresses we've been throwing around here.

Paulx -- I have yet to see the film 'Children of Men', but from what I have heard about it - it's sounds great and am equally excited that Tim Sexton is set to write the LR screenplay!!

Joe Kosinski - make me a believer!!
