Title: Brief Michael York LR Blurb....
Logan5 - June 21, 2007 09:14 PM (GMT)
With Michael York touring the country in "Camelot" as King Arthur, a reporter recently interviewed him on some of his past movies.
He talks a little about Logan's Run and how glad he was to take the part after dissing it at first.
Here's the interview link....

Great interview. See if you can find his autobiography where he talks about Logan's Run in detail. Note: this was before he did Austin Powers.

Excellent article Logan5, I saw the show last week at the Hummingbird Center in Toronto. He put on an excellent show and he looks fantastic. In fact he looks a little too young to play the part of the Old Man in the new Logan's Run re-make. Michael York still is one of the greatest actors in the world, after seeing this show I'm quite certain of that... Its too bad he does'nt get more movie rolls. I also know personally the manager of the Hummingbird Center and I was promised an autographed picture of him. :D I hope she does'nt forget to ask him. Soon as I get the picture I will post it.

Thanks for that link, Logan5. York is & always has been a class act, through & through; Bill Nolan often speaks of how York's & Agutter's classical dramatic training elevated the movie, & I think he's dead-on. Some of the weaker lines would not have worked at all, coming from actors w/ less talent & commitment.
Wish that article had included a few words about THE ISLAND OF DR. MOREAU. I belive Michael explained in his autobiography why he took that part: for the one amazing scene where his characters struggles NOT to revert into animal form. It's a tour de force.
I'd like to catch Michael on stage; anyone out there have a tour schedule for Michael's current show? :dunno:

I know that Michael will be on stage in Camelot until the end of the season, I think. He will be performing in it at the Kentucky Center For The Arts(in Louisville, Kentucky)from October 16, 17, and 18.
A friend of mine is going to try to have me meet Michael in person after the production. She works for the KCA.
Wish me luck. I'm going to need it. :)

LOGAN'S RUN (Logan, 1976): "This one almost got away from me. I read it and thought, `Okay, fine, 23rd century, hedonistic society, kill everyone over 30, no thank you.' But a younger actor I was working with at the time persuaded me to do it and I'm glad he did. It's one of the few things from my past that the kids of today really relate to. They're all terribly engaged with any dystopian view of society and if you look at the world, can you really blame them? Logan's Run was supposed to take place 300 years after we made it. Now it's only 30 years later and a lot of it seems too close for comfort."
Michael York on Logan's Run
Michael does make a very serious point in this article. I've noticed some of those disturbing paralles(?)myself the past few years.
I've got a copy of Michael's autobiography and I underlined everything he had said about Logan's Run. What he described was definately excellent filmmaking. Especially as far as Seventies Cinema is concerned.
