...since this question keeps coming up....


When Jessica and Logan are in the Ice Caves, right before they meet up with Box - Logan tells Jessica that they should remove their clothes before they freeze.

Upon removing their clothing, there appears to be something attached to Jessica's bare skin (around her lower back) that the camera catches very briefly. Whatever it is, it seems that Jessica fumbles with it briefly while she disrobes.

Anyone have an idea of what it could be? It's just something I've always noticed during that scene (like a sore thumb) and to this day - still don't know what it is.

Any thoughts....

I always thought that was some sort of undergarment
or pantyhose. Maybe she was dating one of the film's
editors at the time and tried to make off with all
the cut footage?

At first, that's what I always thought it was, but recently I've been thinking that it may have been some sort of wire - in particular, possibly for a wireless microphone. She does seem to fumble with something in her dress while disrobing.

I'm wondering if she wore that because of the accoustics on that particular set. It may have been used to help Jenny project her voice better in that particular scene, but somehow the wire made it onto film.

This is all pure speculation on my part, but would like to know if anyone else out there has a thought on what it could be or knows for sure.

Hey guys I saw the movie last night for the 20th time and it's just a buldge in her pantihose.

This has been bugging me too, but I'm sure it's not involved with pantyhose because she isn't wearing any in that scene. (In fact, the hosiery seems to come and go, depending on the scene, creating continuity glitches). My best guess was also that it's something to do with sound recording, but there was no dialogue in that shot, and they all surely knew that her lower back would be visible, right? Well, to be honest about this beloved film, for all its virtues, it is speckled with amateurishness throughout, so it could be such a gaffe (as when you see crewmembers reflected in Box's shiny surface). Unfortunately, director Michael Anderson, star Michael York, and the costumer all fail to mention this in their DVD audio commentary. If we could just ask Jenny Agutter herself! ...but she seems taciturn on the whole "Logan's Run" phenomenon.

I too have wondered about the bulging item? I thought it was just part of her costume that got twisted or something?

I would agree, the filming of "BOX" was terrible with reflections and all. However I do love this movie :D

After viewing this scene again, it is very obvious that this is NOT pantyhose, as she is NOT wearing ANYTHING here :blink: but that weird black thing on her lower back.

I'd say it was nothing more sinister than a simple shadow or trick of the light.

I've never noticed it before though..

I think it is a patch of double sided tape used to keep the back of her dress from riding up. Probably left on from a previosly filmed scene and they just forgot to remove it for this scene.

Out of all the theories I've heard so far on this, yours makes the most sense! I believe that you may be correct. Seeing how Jess' dress is already so short, this may have indeed been added to her wardrobe to keep that thing from hiking up too much while filming, so as not to cause Ms Agutter too much embarassment (if she even ever got embarassed)! :)
