We've just received word from William F. Nolan that Logan's next novel will be called "Logan's Journey: A Three Part Adventure".

This will be WFN's first new novel in 27 years!!!!

Bill plans on finishing this one in 2007 and it'll be published at the release of the Warner Brothers remake!

Cool, but when will THAT be ?!? As we have already discussed on another thread, the remake was suppossed to go into production last fall but didn't as Warners never did find a director. Futhermore, they care about Speed Racer as they can sell that to a family audience.

At this time there is no remake. It is therefore, not coming out. I hope Mr. Nolan can clarify. It's bad enough there's no movie remake. I don't want to wait for a sequel novel that won't come out as well.

Hopefully Bill has another plan for releasing this book since it now looks like the Remake is delayed once again. IMDB has a release date of 2010. Wasn't that an Arthur C Clark book (and movie)?

they way warner brothers is treating the remake,it wont be released until 2274.maybe they will show it in arcade.

Bill just wrote me with more information on his latest Logan's Run book for posting here!

It's a 3-Part novel under the overall 'working' title LOGAN'S QUEST .

Part 1 is "The Journey" - all new and co-written by our very own Paul McComas (Paulx).

Part 2 is "The Challenge" - a revised version of his "Logan's Return" novella.

Part 3 is "The Gun" - by Paul McComas, with WFN revisions!

Bill and Paul will share the book's byline.

They are still wanting to tie it in with the Warner Bros remake (if it ever gets off the ground). At that time, he's also hoping to have his original novels (Logan's Run/World/Search) re-issued!!

Last but not least -

Bill just finished a 3,000 word article, RUNNIN WITH LOGAN: A PERSONAL HISTORY, covering ALL 44 years since he created the basic Logan concept in 1963! It will appear in FILMFAX - (http://www.filmfax.com) so watch for it!!!

OK, since Bill has gone ahead & let the tiger out of the bag, guess I'll shoot it w/ a Tangler so we can get a better look. . .

Words can't express the excitement w/ which I'm currently co-authoring LOGAN'S QUEST w/ him. It is a literal dream come true, & Bill is an AMAZING collaborator: inventive, enthusiastic, supportive -- & as skilled a writer today as ever; among other things, I'm getting the initial look at some of his very finest work!

We are 80% of the way through Part 1 ("The Journey"), which involves space travel & some awesome alien races; it's written 50/50 by Bill & me, w/ each of us revising the other's pages. Then I'll add my own spin to Bill's gladiator tale "The Challenge," fleshing it out a bit & making it tie into Parts 1 & 3. (Bill, of course, will revise my revision!) Finally, I'll write "The Gun" -- which involves time travel, & brings the whole Logan saga full-circle -- w/ Bill revising. We're including lots of nasty-ass nightmares throughout that flash back to the world of the first two books & show how Logan is still haunted by his actions as a Sandman; his Quest, on one level, is to forgive himself for all of the innocent lives he's taken. LOGAN'S QUEST is a very heartfelt, very human, quite romantic (Jess is vivdly-realized -- & his full partner here), but still action-packed novel, & I'll end this email now so I can get back to co-writing it! (Yippee!)

P.S.: Yes, we hope to release it in tandem w/ the Warner's remake; that's the goal, & that's the ideal. But I'm confident that if said movie continues to get back-burnered for a few more years, Bill may well be OK w/ just getting the new book out there anyway, for the sake of all Logandom. :excited:

Can you give us any updates on this since it has been a few months since the last posting?

Part One, "The Journey," has been completed & is quite strong. (Also fairly long: 120 double-spaced pages.) Bill & I are currently working on Part Two, "The Challenge." Stay tuned. . .

The last time we had any official Logan's Run release was back in 2000 with Bill's release of "Logan's Return"!
