Here's something interesting I caught a few days ago on the web.

'SYNCHRONIZE: re-score' is a monthly live DJ re-score performance of a feature film running uncut, in it's entirety with all dialogue intact. DJ Thomas Golubic´(KCRW 89.9 FM and music supervisor of HBO's 'Six Feet Under') performs a new music interpretation of a different film at Cinespace in Hollywood on the last Wednesday of every month. Previous performances have included 'Taxi Driver', 'Blade Runner', 'Harold & Maude', 'Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory', 'The Graduate', 'Battle of Algiers', 'Walkabout', 'Requiem for a Dream', 'The Road Warrior', 'Conquest of the Planet of the Apes' among others.

He has recently re-scored "Logan's Run" and has provided a five-minute clip of it on YouTube.

Some may say scacrilege.... but I think it's a very clever and unique way to add something new to an already established classic film!

Would have loved to see the entire performance....

and of course, 'Willy Wonka'!

Run, runner!

Reading about this re-score, I thought it was a terrible idea. However after watching the clip, I'm rather impressed. I like how they didn't go overboard with the idea. They keep it subtle and respectful towards the original film. I felt that it offered a fresh perspective on footage that I've seen a hundred times. I too would like to see the whole thing.
