As many of you already know, George Pal (War of the Worlds, The Time Machine, When Worlds Collide) was slated to be the original producer of "Logan's Run" back in the late '60's when the film was first going to be made. Richard Maibaum was to write the screenplay (Richard wrote many of the early James Bond movie screenplays).
Most of the film was to be shot in Brasilia in South America and no one was to be cast over 21 years of age.
But then in 1969, MGM had some new production staff come on board and they ultimately decided to shelve Pal's "Logan's Run", where it would remain dormant at MGM for a few more years.
Pal's version of "Logan's Run" ultimately would never see the light of day....
But now ---
We've just gotten word that a new book will soon be released that will provide alot of new insights and details into George Pal's "Logan's Run" vision - more so than any previous articles or books had explored (remember the old "Cinefantasique" article?).
The book is being written by Justin Humphreys and will be entitled GEORGE PAL: MAN OF TOMORROW and will encompass practically all of George Pal's life and work!
Also, in the Logan's Run section of the book, Justin Humphreys has brand new interviews with authors William F Nolan and George Clayton Johnson, as well as director Michael Anderson.
The book should be out later this year and will be published by Dinoship, Inc.
http://www.dinoship.com Be sure to keep an eye out for it! It sounds like an excellent biography of the life and times of George Pal, with lots of new Logan's Run information as well!!
As soon as it's released, we'll post a reminder note about it here!
