Title: Rare footage

nems12 - May 20, 2006 12:56 AM (GMT)
A few years ago, I put together three video clips of rare footage. These were originally hosted on the "City of Domes" web site, but have been off-line for some time. Since "YouTube" is willing to provide video bandwidth for free, I put together a quick page with the three clips.

I'm sure many of you have already seen these but perhaps not lately, and there might be some of you who are seeing them for the first time.
Enjoy!

Excellent, nems12!

Thanks so much for finding another hosting service for these great clips of yours! I noticed that many of the video links at Vikki's site hadn't been working lately. It's nice to see these online again!

Very Great !
do you think that one day we can see a COMPLETE version of the first movie (1976) on a DVD ? With all deleted scenes, etc. ?

I firmly believe that ALL of the lost footage is laying around somewhere. I hope that the next edition of the Logan's Run DVD clears up all of the film's scratches, corrects the colors tints (comparing it to the INHD hi-def version I have) and includes all of this lost footage!!

The current DVD can be bought now for $5.99 (at my local Best Buy). That tells me there's gotta be something better coming down the road soon! Warner Bros did this with their original Willy Wonka DVD - sold it cheap to make way for a newer, more robust version a few months later. Crossing my fingers that something similar happens with Logan's Run!

Great job nems12. I have to admit that the music to the trailer made me feel quite old. LOL

Here is to hoping that they will release a complete DVD.

Great job nems12. I have to admit that the music to the trailer made me feel quite old. LOL

That music is from the 1968 MGM film Ice Station Zebra. The Advance Preview of Selected Scenes was put together so far in advance that the Jerry Goldsmith score for LR was not yet available. Watching scenes from LR with a different score seems strange. The Ice Station Zebra music isn't bad, but the LR footage doesn't feel as futuristic without the Goldsmith score behind it.

We all know there is a fair amount of deleted footage in the Advance Preview of Selected Scenes, but can you spot the alternate footage? Check out this exchange and compare it to your DVD:
Logan: “Look I don’t have much time!”
Jessica: “I never heard of a Sandman running, ever.”

Or check the shot of Logan closing the bulkhead door to stop the water flood, and then flipping the switch to activate the cargo elevator. Again a different take from what we have on DVD. I'm sure there are more examples.

Now updated with footage from the Cinema Secrets episode "Wired" (broadcast on AMC in 2001). Scroll to the bottom to see it. It takes about a 1.5 minutes before the LR content kinks in.

Click here for the video page.

Excellent nems12! I have never seen this before. Even though most of the scenes from Logans Run we've seen before, its nice to see a somewhat new interview with Michael Anderson and crew! Thanks for posting this.
