Title: Singer might NOT direct Logan's Run?
Description: May depend on "Superman's" success

Logan5 - May 17, 2006 04:12 PM (GMT)
Here we go again....... :wallbash:

Rumors are starting to surface that Bryan Singer may no longer be directing the upcoming "Logan's Run" remake, as he would be juggling two big Box Office films at or around the same time for Warner Brothers (LR and his inevitable "Superman Returns" sequel).

Rumor also has it that "V for Vendetta's" director James McTeague may be tapped to direct "Logan's Run", should Singer officially back out. Singer may stay on in a 'Producer' role....

*big sigh* Well, I had a feeling that Singer might drop out of directing LR. He has too much on his plate at once. Although nothing is confirmed yet, so we might still get lucky. Hopefully, at a minimum he stays on to produce.

I feel the same way, nems12

He had way too many projects coming up and I honestly could not see him doing "Logan's Run" after "Superman", then it's inevitable sequel and finally that Mayor 'murder for hire' movie.

Hopefully if Singer does bow out, Joel Silver still gets this thing moving later this year for a mid 2007 release, otherwise we may be looking at 2010 people!! :omg:

Maybe the Logan's Run remake is not supposed to happen..... :boo:

I knew something like this would happen.

I know, I know, but even though nothing's official yet, you all know what the outcomes going to be. :angryfire:

Actually, no one knows at this point what the outcome will be. Will depend on 3 things:

1) Box office for Superman Returns. After all if no good, not only is Supes dead but so is Logan. However, this seems unlikely as everything I've seen about Superman Returns looks great.

2) How Warner Bros feels about making Logan's Run after Superman Returns; they may just want another Superman film right away instead of waiting until after Logan's Run. Sadly, that's pretty likely.

3) How Bryan Singer feels about making Logan's Run after Superman Returns and before the next Superman sequel. He is taking a well deserved rest now. Remember Byran Singer still propduces House. How will he feel by July? will he still be tired ? Or will he be well-reseted? Could go either way.

How will Warners feel? That too can go either way, more so.

So let's wait until July. We shall see.

As stated previously, I think there are other alternatives to Brian Singer, In fact it might be a good thing that he's not doing it... Its my opionion that with so many projects going at once its unlikely Singer could give this movie the attention it deserves. I also think that because he's so sought after he might take it for granted... I think I'd rather have a director that will concentrate 100% on this movie alone. I don't like the idea of someone jumping from project, to project, to project...This is not plumbing we're talking about here, its art...here once again are a number of choices for director, and there are others...

Alex Proyas............Dark City.
Peter Jackson ........Lord of the Rings.
Terry Gilliam..........12 Monkeys.
James Cameron......Terminator.
Thomas Lee............Super Nova.
Steven Soderberg...Solaris.

My first choice to direct (& don't laugh at me, just 'cause I'm blanking on the guy's NAME!) would be the director of the 1999 film RUN, LOLA, RUN.

He already has "RUN" experience -- plus, is the similarity between the names "Logan" & "Lola" mere coincidence?

What an imaginative, audacious rollercoaster-ride of a movie LOLA was! Pretty much my favorite non-s.f. action film, in part 'cause it breaks all the rules of the genre (no car chases, thank God!).

I turned Nolan onto it while visiting him a year ago; we watched it together on video, & HE definitely dug it, too.

IMDB has removed Bryan Singer as Director of Logan's Run and has put James McTeague in as 'rumored' Director of the project.

Errr...as far as I can tell this guy has never directed a film ...he's always like an assistant. That makes me nervous.

Well, now that "Superman Returns" has hit the theaters, here's the official word from Singer himself....

he is NOT going to be involved in Logan's Run anymore.

If Bryan Singer wants to take a vacation now he certainly is entitled to do so. Directing Superman Returns while still producing House while also tring to move Logan's Run thru development must be tiring.

Well, if Bryan Singer is really out, now we will see if Warners still wants to remake Logan's Run. BTW, James McTeigue HAS directed before; the excelent V for Vendetta adaptation this year. I say wait for the official word from Warners to confirm/deny. That should be soon.
