In the resin world, there are many many knockoffs of people's work. I'm the guy, who, under the name "Brennschluss" (German word that means "burnout") Models sculpted the 1/6 scale "Man from Planet X" spaceman kit-- with optional lighting rig-- featured in the 2nd edition of Terry Webb's book "The Garage Kit that Ate My Wallet." So I know the score, from networking with other resinheads. You can put out a kit at a scifi con, and find someone selling recasts at the next one you go to. Just part of the game. BTW I quit selling the Man From Planet X spaceman kit when Ted Turner claimed ownership of the movie. My research indicated public domain, but you don't butt heads with Ted. He didn't even have to file a cease and desist, I just destroyed the molds. The 25 kits that made it out the door are worth a small fortune, from what I've heard. Here's a built version, made prior to Bob Burns telling me the correct colors of a costume that only appeared in a B/W movie:

The flash supressor is solid, so you'll need to hollow it yourself if you want it to look cool. It is not hollow, and never has been in any official Wilco! Models kit. Buy it from Bill directly, and you know you have the real thing. His email is wilcomodels@hotmail.com.
If your resin Sandman gun has a hollow flash suppressor, it's not a real Wilco! Models gun. And I think it's worth going with his black resin gun, because by the time you finish dinking with it, it'll look distressed just like a real movie prop!
I've decided to do a gun based on the terrific ideas of BBS member Monolith21, using Berg parts for the trigger linkage. Keep in mind this is a SAFE non flame gun!
Also sent Bill Lenches another $30 plus $5 post for another Wilco! Models Sandman gun to chop up. And here I said I wouldn't mess with resin anymore, but It'll be cool to share information with Monolith21 and develop a truly safe and lowcost version of the DS gun, in addition to the truly unsafe flaming gas version I'm also working on.
Good night, and good luck.
