I was cleaning out the shop, and found a block of delrin I was about to throw away. I also found the second barrel Bill Lenches at Wilco Models sent me, when we discussed it online and made the assumption that I would probably screw up the first one if I tried to open the slots on the flash suppressor. I bought a front grip for six bucks at Home Depot (BTW, any time I go into a hardware store, my "Weird S**t-O-Meter" (a Will Smithism from MiB) never fails to overclock. I mean, who on earth would make a garden hose nozzle look like this???). Re the flash suppressor, I lucked out and got it right the first time. It was the *second* one I screwed up, but that was repairable. So I spent an hour or so playing with the leftovers, and this is what resulted.

The laser pointer came off my keychain, then came a quick reshape of the delrin block, followed by sticking the garden hose head on the bottom. The laser light works great, and activates just by press fitting it into its hole. Also, this barrel does not have the restrictor as on the original barrel to force the flash through the four side slots, just three porting holes I drilled in each of the top two slots only. Plus it's a good bit longer. So, it works with a higher chamber pressure, and, uh... will send a blast of flame out about fifteen feet on a flash cotton plus flash paper charge.

It quickly interchanges barrels back to the original version. And if you premake your flash charges like the old paper cartridges used in Civil War vintage Sharp's rifles and carbines, it reloads very fast.

Now, done with resin, except for a little finish up painting and gun blacking the aluminum holster triangle. On to real metalwork and a gas gun, but I thought people might be amused by this. I don't think I'll post a wmv of this one firing, because it's pretty freaky. Just the thing to bring along to this year's Burning Man... ;)

Here are jpegs of the gun.
