Title: Was sanctuary a myth in the TV series ?

Was Sanctuary planed as a myth ? Well unfortunaly the TV series was canceled so we will never knew for sure :( ( or has someone infos about what was planed ? ), but IMO it would make sence that Sanctuary did not exist ( similar to the movie ) - because who should have build or found it ? It would make sence if the first runners create or build up some kind of Sanctuary but Jessica and Logan already met the first runner in the Judas Goat, and still no Sanctuary. Or was that already Sanctuary but J + L simply expect to much ??? ( well at least in the collectors it seems that they expect some kind of paradise on earth ... )

My own thoughts on this would be that Sanctuary was indeed a myth on the TV series, as it was in the movie.

In the episode "The Judas Goat", Matthew12 says to Jessica "Well, you've found MY Sanctuary...." With Matthew12 being the first runner, he decided not to look for it anymore and just settled down with Garth and the others to make his own.

Now this doesn't mean that Sanctuary doesn't exist in reality, but I doubt it ever did. I think in the movie and the TV series that Sanctuary meant different things to different people. There was not just ONE place called Sanctuary. It was more or less a symbolic word or concept that meant a place where people could live together in peace and grow old together. A world foreign to those in the City of Domes who constantly witnessed death masked as a form of entertainment.

Back in the day, I always thought that Sanctuary DID exist. I felt that it was just being outside the CITY and away from the control of the THINKER. I still hold to that idea. JMHO :)

Sadly, the series was cancelled way too soon, so this is all guesswork on all our parts; but I was under the impression that Sanctuary was real like in the books but not *the* Sanctuary from the books but a unique one just for the series.

As for Judas Goat's Mathew-12 clearly he gave up looking for it and made his own. Fair enough. That doesn't mean that there isn't one (like the movie) although that's possible; I personally see that as being that Matthew-12 simply didn't find it.

Sanctuary, if it does (will?) exist, would have to be well-cloaked and well-guarded. In the series, while the Runners *are* well organised as both Jessica-6 and Mathew-12 are described as leaders in the Runners Movement, the is no *one* leader (like the books' Ballard or the unknown one in the movie) that anyone is aware of. I take that as no one of the current Runners (leaders or otherwise) actually know of its true location.

Aside of course, from the previous Runners that have actually *made* it to Sanctuary. Yes, I was under the impression right or wrong that some Runners did reach Sanctuary. Once there, why leave? To leave for any reason would risk its secret location being discovered. With the City of Domes' Council giving Sandmen more authority, and Francis-7's extended hunt for Logan-5, that's too risky.

Well what do you guys think? Or feel?
