Description: Dec 1, 2005 Video Interview
Logan5 - December 5, 2005 04:19 PM (GMT)
The folks over at IESB (The Movie Reporter) have posted a Dec 1, 2005 Five-minute interview with Bryan Singer on their website, where he discusses that Superman is pretty much all filmed and in the can - and he's working on post-production work for it now.
He also gets some great questions about Logan's Run!

Bryan does discuss some interesting things regarding his "Logan's Run" remake vision including the lifeclocks, the age limit, and his overall sense of the picture.
Post your thoughts regarding this most recent Singer interview here....

It almost seemed that Bryan Singer was a little hesitant in describing his work on Logan's Run. My guess is that he doesn't want to give away too much. Overall, I thought he was very informative on what he has in mind for the re-make and what he would like to do with it. I still think that both he and Warner Brothers should not go through with this and just focus on an entirely different project, but, that's just my opinion. He was also very forthcoming about Superman Returns and the completion of his work on that particular film. If it is ignoring the awful Superman III and IV, and just sticking with Superman - The Movie and Superman II, then it should be worth watching, this coming summer.
As to the idea of him working on a Star Trek film and resurrecting Paramount Pictures now dormant franchise, I think that he should focus his talents on other projects and stay away from that. I don't think his talents, or anyone elses for that matter, could bring something like that back to life.
On the subject of Star Trek, I can only say this. Gene Rodenberry's space odyssey has drawn to a close. Let's face it, Paramount's cash cow has suffered from franchise fatigue and has been literally wrung dry. Like both the Star Wars and ALIEN sagas, Star Trek has literally run its course and come to an end. If Paramount had not done the two spin-offs Deep Space Nine and Voyager, I think Star Trek would have lasted just a bit longer. Star Trek was about the starship Enterprise and those who both commanded and served on the various starships that carried the legendary name. It was not about a space station near some wormhole or another starship that got lost somewhere in the galaxy. It was about the various generations who served on ships named the U.S.S. Enterprise. Plain and simple.
It goes to show you what happens when you entrust artistic control of something special to the wrong person and staff. What was Paramount and Rick Berman thinking? :wtf:

I caught the exact same thing; however, it led me to believe that he's actually not as far along with his concept as we were all led to believe earlier. He's still not sure what the age limit is going to be (he may be holding off on announcing this officially in case of limiting potential cast members). Also, he only mentioned having the overall look envisioned so far, but nothing about an actual screenplay or storyline yet. That would all have to be approved yet by the studio heads before he can even start on it.
This interview leads me to sadly believe that "Logan's Run" may NOT actually be his next project after all, and that it's probably gonna sit around Warners for a bit longer.... :censored:
Hey, at least it keeps up with some interesting conversations here...

This is a big concern. Until the first day of filming actually occurs, I feel like the Logan's Run project is on thin ice.
Even worse, what if Bryan finishes up the pre-production stuff and then hands it off to someone else to direct. Yuck! I can't see another director having the same passion for the material as does Bryan. Think about it. Bryan places Logan's Run on the same plateau as the DC universe, the Marvel universe, and the Star Trek universe. I doubt that another director would approach Logan's Run with the same heart felt reverence.

Am I missing something here? After watching this interview it sounds like Logan's Run *is* Byran Singer's next movie after Superman Returns, as he has said it would be since fall of 2004. The impression I get is that things are going as they should.
Could things change at the drop of a hat? Sure. After all, Bryan Singer would have done Logan's Run already (pre-production spring '04 instead of during Superman Returns production); but Warners decided to fast-track Superman over Logan. No shock right?
Now, so far things have gone the way Bryan Singer has said they would since fall of '04. I heard Bryan Singer talk about Logan's Run as his next project as he has said it would be. Whatever his vision is with Logan's Run, he has a vision that he seems to be working on. Star Trek sounded like wishfull thinking as opposed to an actual production.
Anyays, it's up to Warners. Could be any day this year. Could be later after Superman Returns comes out or it could be soon.

Bryan Singers work on the two X-Men movies have shown me how he could adapt "Logans Run" to a new version. I can't wait. I was hoping that there might of been something big planned for this year, the 30th Anniversary of the original movie, but I haven't heard of anything yet.
