Title: Avatar Instructions
Description: How to upload your own Avatar

Logan5 - November 8, 2005 01:19 AM (GMT)
For those newbies who may not be familair with BBS's, Avatars are those nice little pictures that appear whenever you post a message on our BBS (mine is the black and white drawing of Logan5).

My BBS doesn't allow me to create my own Avatar Gallery directly here for you to simply choose your own Logan Avatar. However, you can upload your own image to use as your personal Avatar on these boards yourself!

These instructions are posted elsewhere (hidden in a different thread), but I thought I'd create a new Avatar thread so these instructions can easily be located to assist those who aren't familiar with the fine art of Avataring.

FIRST - decide on an image you want to use as your Avatar.

If you want to use any of our own custom "Logan's Run" Buddy icons as your Avatar....

1. Go to my Buddy Icons page at:
http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Dimension/5357/buddy.htm
2. Right click on the Buddy Icon you want to use.
3. Select 'Save Picture As...' and save it somewhere on your disk. Remember where you put it so you can find it again to upload later.

OR

If you want to use a different picture for your Avatar, just make sure it's already on your PC somewhere and that it's no bigger than 80 x 80 pixels and no larger than 25k in size.

4. Once the icon/picture has been saved on your PC, log back in to our BBS.
5. Click on the My Controls link (near the upper right)
6. On the left hand side - under 'Personal Profile' - select 'Edit Avatar Settings'
7. In the lower white box, click on the 'Browse' button.
8. Locate the location of the Buddy Icon you downloaded on your hard drive and double click it to enter the location in the white box.
9. Once the location of your chosen Buddy Icon appears in the white box, click the 'Update Avatar' button and

VOILA --

there's your new Avatar, already to go!

Now post away, runner!
