"Merry Christmas, only 12 shopping days till Armagedon" - David Eakins.
....This is the first Episode I watched, and let me say it was fantastic. Lets start with openning theme ( song ) to the Logans Run T.V. series, it was excellent, especially the first 15 seconds were that siren is going off...
.....The story is a thought provoking one. The idea of time travel for the sake of doing good is a topic that has been explored many times over vthe years in many different T.V. series and movies...With the exception of Captain Kirk and company going back to get the blue whale, the act of time travel seldom, if ever achieve the desired results. It is a debate that could be argued for years ..." If you could go back in time and Kill Hitler, there by preventing the second world war would you? "...Interesting question, most might immediatly say yes without thinking of the dire concequeces that might transpire as a result...here are just a few reprocusions....
The Soviet Union eventually takes all of Europe.
A scientist that should have died during WWII, lives and eventually developes a weapon ten times more powerful than the neuclear bomb.
Instead of 7 billion people living on the planet ( 5 billion too many ) we would have approx. 12 billion.
The state of Isreal never happens, and as a result radical Islam runs rampant over all of Europe and Asia.
You yourself are never born because you mother and father never meet, because they both met someone else.
The Vokswagon Bug is never invented... :P
The Cold War never happens, its a Hot war intead and we are ALL Dead.
...I could go on for hours but I think you all get the point. Man out of Time does a great job presenting this dilema...
" Save our lives or distroy theirs " - David Eakins
...hard to say what is right...Even if you could go back in time as this episode clearly shows its unlikley you could prevent a historic event from happening...and in some cases you may make things even worse...
" I should have realized, our destiny was never to stop Judgment Day, but mearly to survive it." - John Connor TERMINATOR 3
David Gerrold writes a great episode here, Paul Shenar guest stars as David Eakins, he is a fantastic actor and brings this character to life, making the episode very beleivable....once again it gets my two thumbs up...

I agree it's a fantastic episode - but it's even better than most time travel stories I ever saw and here it's why.
You mentioned the idea of killing Hitler to prevent WW2 by time travel - well I think your conclusion is wrong because you would have a far more fundamental problem.
If you could go back in time to kill Hitler ( or someone else ) and change history - would you be born in the new world ? Properbly not ( depend on your age I guess ) if you consider that killing Hitler would influence so many events that properply your parents will never met then ...
So but if you are not born, then who kills Hitler ?
And even if this is not the problem - if Hitler died ( maybe as a child ) than why should anyone have the idea of traveling back in time and kill an unimporten unknown child, ... see what I mean ? You will always creat a paradoxon. It's a common mistake made by most time travel stories that they won't work because of such a paradoxon.
But not this one. Everything the time traveler does in the past ( before and after his time travel ) is already part of Logans and Jessicas past right from the beginning ( even so they don't know at first ) .
That and the somehow tragic figure of the time traveler ( who finaly found out that he triggered exactly the event he tried to prevent ) is what makes the story so great for me
Great episode, no doubt, but the twist ending ... I don't know ... does not quite do it for me, depsite that it makes sense and is well done. We can talk about that if you like ...
