Title: Where have I seen that fountain before?

Originally, Logan's Run was to open with footage of Francis shooting a runner who falls backwards into a "residence pool" (a.k.a. a fountain).
(If you are not already familiar with the original opening then click here for more info and click here to view some of the footage.)

Although this opening sequence did not make it into the released edit, the very same residence pool still made an appearance elsewhere in the film. So pull out your DVD and see if you can answer this trivia question...

When does one see the residence pool in the released edit of Logan's Run?

Great trivia question, nems12!

I think I found the scene and I can post a pic of it when someone else finds it. Don't want to spoil it too soon. :tape:

I've seen that scene many, many times and have never made the connection before. Good one!

Here's the answer:
In the scene where Jessica strolls to meet her friends at the restaurant table (and Logan watches from a distance), the residence pool can be seen on the right hand side of the frame:

Thankfully, not much has changed in 30 years. Note the Starbucks Coffee on the far right side...

nems12,

that is a terrific 'now and then' shot! Now, everytime I watch this scene, I'll always think coffee!

Thanks for sharing this, nems12. Again, I never knew it was the same pool.

This diagram shows how the same location was used to film the two different scenes.
  • The blue circle is the residence pool.
  • The red line is the path the runner took (in the deleted opening scene).
  • F7 is where Francis lept down from the second floor to confront the runner.
  • The green line is the path that Jessica took to meet her friends at the restaurant table.
  • L5 is where Logan stood watching Jessica from afar.
...and yes, there really is a restaurant where you see it labeled in the diagram. You can even eat at a table out front only a few feet away from where Jessica and her friends sat and ate.

The DMC (Dallas Market Center) is not open to the public, however this area within the World Trade Center (known as the "Hall of Nations") acts as a kind of giant lobby for the 15 story building and is accessible to anyone (you just won't be able to go any higher within the building). If you plan to visit remember that children are not allowed. Also, the DMC is a place for wholesale business so I recommend dressing "business casual."

I LOVE seeing pics like these - reel and present day!

So, would a Sandman uniform be considered "business casual"? B)

I'M KIDDING!
