I remember reading a article in starlog magazine just as "Man out of time" was being released on tv.Dave Gerrold use to write for starlog on a regular bases.in it he said that he hated Logan's Run(books included)but said that it had promise.Rightly so, mr nolan shot back at him in the letters section a month later defending his creation.i believe this "fight" went on for a couple of issues before it stopped.Man out time was a good episode.well acted and written. But i lost respect for gerrold when he insulted mr nolan and mr johnson"s work. just a bit of historical trivia i thought a would pass along to the fans!
I remember that incident and those two issues of Starlog all too well. I don't care much for Gerrold or his writings either. Especially after those uncalled for remarks he made. Like Mr. Nolan, I literally went through the roof in fury, because of those ignorant comments Gerrold made. It just goes to show you that some science fiction writers have ego problems the size of an asteroid(no pun intended). They have no respect for other writers' materials. And for the most part, they would not know good material if it were to rear up and bite them on the @!*&%. I e-mailed Gerrold two months ago, telling him off for those negative remarks he made. I haven't heard from him since. I guess after e-mailing the vicious and strong remarks I made against him in retaliation for what he said about both the book and the movie, I may have hit a nerve. Serves David Gerrold right as far as I am concerned.
I have not seen those Logan's Run remarks but does not surprise me.
After all David Gerrold took pot shots in his Starlog collum at the Empire Strikes Back!
And in his afterward in Harlan Ellison's book City On the Edge of Forever he takes pot shots at Gene Roddenberry and Star Trek as sf in general.
Listening to his interviews on the ST: TAS DVDs he had a bad experience with Star Trek fandom so I would imagine that he would still be gun shy when he deals with sf fandom.
