i suddenly spotted this and was like OMG.

i never picked up on it cos i'd barely heard of Educating Rita until i did it for 20th century thingy in English this year.

Kim takes the piss out of Karen's poem about Martin and Karen says:

It's and assonance, a half rhyme. Micheal Caine teaches Julie Walters about it in Educating Rita.


the bit that really shocked me was the fact that i've been meaning to start this thread for ages because, any other people that have read the play will know that Rita's real name is Susan White.

I did 'Educating Rita' for a drama thing but I never spotted that... I think it's just coincidence. GW writers aren't THAT clever... are they? :blink:

well i ws thinking about this, and when you look at it, most of the names of charcters come from people working with the writers.

except i don't think sue white does.
