Title: All A Dream?

enzotherhino - July 16, 2006 06:45 PM (GMT)
Quite a few people were hoping that some or all of the last series as in fact a coma induced dream or some such other way of getting out of the fact that mac may not be around much longer. Now this may be a little unrealistic (even for green wing) but I was re-reading an interview from The Independent (22 Mar 2006) (off the JRT fansite) and this was in it:

"Pile is nervous about how much is riding on the new series, and thinks the new C4 adverts look a bit smug....As for the coma plot-twist - after Life on Mars, it feels a bit dated."

Now the way I see it Mac being in a coma isn't much of a plot twist and not very similar to life on mars. For those who haven't seen the brilliant life on mars, a guy goes into a coma and ends up in the 70s - we don't know if its a dream or he's dead etc. So this could possibly indicate that the "its all a dream" theories weren't so crazy afterall. Who knows? I just wanted to know what everyone else thinks.

If this has been posted before I apologise

Ooooh thanks for the quote enzotherhino!

I think it's entirely plausible (considering this is Green Wing) that Mac or someone else is in a coma still.

I was thinking that it could possibly be Guy, as during season 2 a lot of good stuff happened to Guy (getting away with only community service after stealing the ambulance, finally getting Caroline) and a lot of bad stuff happened to Mac (his many failed attempts at a relationship with Caroline, his fatal diagnosis)

But as you said who knows? I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

And don't forget the tell tale *bleeps* in the music as the ambulance headed towards the cliff.

nb: the sort of bleeps you get with a life support machine type thing.

and you're right we really haven't had a plot twist involving a coma - yet :wtf

ooooh oooh *claps hands* I like the sound of this!

That's interesting, and would make sense for it to be Guy in a coma, but surely Caro would have thrown herself at him in Guy's dream. I also read an article on the second series which said this:

Either way, having sworn the cast to silence for fear of 'spoiling surprises' (though she couldn't gag Mangan's dubious claim that he 'comes out of the shower, and it was all a dream, like Bobby Ewing in Dallas)

So I don't think it's going to be a dream, or anything like that, or Steve wouldn't say things like that. I reckon if they did do that, the writers would be accused of being lazy.

Mac'sBestGirl - July 17, 2006 09:12 AM (GMT)
Aww- that is true. So true. The whole 'it was all a dream' thing has all been done before! :(

poo on a plate - July 17, 2006 09:21 AM (GMT)
Sadly, yes. It would be good, though. I like the idea that it's Guy's dream - and all the good stuff happening to him wasn't really. It would be really touching, I think.

I just hope someone has messed with Mac's results. Even if it was Guy, I don't want the fraise blonde to die.

enzotherhino - July 17, 2006 09:22 AM (GMT)
yeah i do agree it is a bit clichéd but you never know

Little_Simba - July 17, 2006 10:28 PM (GMT)
Ooh! *thinks things over* Thanks for this info/hint or whatever it could turn out to be, enzotherhino. I suppose it does give a bit of life to the 'series 2 was all a dream' theory (although I wouldn't have got it if it hadn't been for your explanation as I've never seen Life on Mars... so thanks for putting me in the picture) but it still seems a bit unlikely that they'd do that.

I reckon what was meant by the coma plot-twist was the fact that the coma had caused Mac to lose his memory of what had happened between him and Caroline, causing her to have to start from scratch with him.

if they do the whole it was a dream thing i will b v annoyed!!

poo on a plate - July 25, 2006 03:24 PM (GMT)
I will be too, but I doubt it very much. I have faith in the GW writers, and I know they'll deliver a fantastic conclusion.

luvinit! - August 22, 2006 11:45 AM (GMT)
As do I. *cough-Mac not dead-cough*

;)

enzotherhino - August 22, 2006 11:49 AM (GMT)
i think we're all holding out for that

luvinit! - August 22, 2006 11:57 AM (GMT)
God, yeah!

But then there are the comments like

Life is just a game

and

Game over

and bleeping noises in the music

Lots of people have been saying that Ep8 was a dream becasue of the ending with Mac fading away.
The last episode got more surreal as it went on.
  • Sue giving birth to a lion
  • Alan and Joanna dressed as Nazis
  • The Brief Encounter ending

Also maybe the results Mac read were Angela's? Because apparantly it is her funeral... But at the wedding there is meant to be a rooftop where someone can fall off so maybe that's how Angela dies, or maybe a fight takes place between Mac and Guy.

Also apparantly the wedding is Joanna and Alan's but i'm not sure if that is true.
Some people have been saying maybe Guy marries Sue. That would be unpredictable and very Green Wing like. (Maybe that's why he is wearing a kilt on the promo pic?) I think Guy and Sue would make a good couple becasue when Guy describes the top 5 things in a woman, they all seem to relate to Sue (not sure about the 'cellar thing' :P)

Yes, the surreal thing. I felt the whole episode was very strange, I mean stranger than usual anyway :) They're all great theories, and I can't wait to find out what pans out and what doesn't. Bring on episode 9 already guys :D

Two topics merged, as otherwise we all just start repeating ourselves - well I know I do.

I like the idea of Sue and Guy getting together. Sue certainly has a way with getting Guy turned on, so why not

xpingux - October 3, 2006 07:06 PM (GMT)
haha i agree! :P

Yeah, I love their scenes together and I'd love for them to at least have a fling or something. I reckon they could do some fab scenes with them as a couple. (Whispers: They'd have some v. wild sex, those two, I reckon... not that I've been thinking about it at all, no, course not. :blush )
