Now I wonder what could've made you start this topic? ;) hehe.

I love it, and have both the series as well, was nice to see some of the episodes they don't show on telly much :) It's just brill.

"Neil; why do you keep coming in here shouting 'suprise!'?"
"Well it's my birthday"
"Now you knew that, and we don't care, so where's the surprise?"

:D

SecretanFan - July 12, 2006 04:46 PM (GMT)
I love this show! Especially the University Challenge one, where Vivien kickis through to the other team, because when I was little I actually did think the desks were above each other.

So did I, SF :) so did I.

Neil & Vyvyan were my favourite characters. I am a hippy with a temper, so they fit my personality quite well :) I am also a mix of both Pheobe and Chandler, it's scary. This is one of my favourite quotes from the Young Ones:

Neil: I sat in the big hall and put my packet of Polos on the desk. And my spare pencil and my support gonk. And my chewing gum and my extra pen. And my extra Polos and my lucky gonk. And my pencil sharpener shaped like a cream cracker. And more gonks with a packet of Polos in each. And lead for my retractable pencil. And my retractable pencil. And spare lead for my retractable pencil. And chewing gum and pencils and pens and more gonks, and the guy says "Stop writing, please".

SecretanFan - July 13, 2006 07:47 AM (GMT)
 I liked Rik and Vivian best, Neil got on my nerves. I've always liked Rik Mayall. b

kittyofdoom - July 13, 2006 07:49 AM (GMT)
Ahh I suppose if you're not used to Hippies, the way he talks and, well, his general ethos on life (ie. everybody hates him and he has to do everything) could be quite annoying.

Ah well :) each to their own, at least we agree on Vyvyan, hehe.

SecretanFan - July 13, 2006 07:53 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I think it was his voice. I just remember thinking it was funny when they were mean to him. Hehe.
And yep, Vyvyan is great. I've decided to spell it like you do, because I don't know and you're probably right. :)

Oh, The Young Ones!! :worship2 :worship2 :worship2 I love it! It's one of my favourite series ever. Vyvyan (You do spell it like that :) ) is my fave character. His voice is brill!

Neil was my favorite. I haven't seen this for years, well apart from the odd clip on TV.

XTinker_Bellx - October 4, 2006 07:30 PM (GMT)
I adore the young ones!!!

"Mum this is my friend Mike, This is Neil, and this is a absolute bastard I know called Rik!"

I heart it muchfully!!

kittyofdoom - October 4, 2006 07:36 PM (GMT)
It was a great show :D

"I won't say anything 'cos no one listens to me anyway. I might as well be a Leonard Cohen record" - Neil.

XTinker_Bellx - October 4, 2006 07:43 PM (GMT)
hee hee I love the utter randomness of the show - like vyvyen randomly knockig through walls, or buddy holly just popping up.

I also loved the way tehy managed to get a band play for each show.

kittyofdoom - October 4, 2006 07:48 PM (GMT)
There's a reason for that; if they summarised their show as 'topical entertainment' or something, they got a bigger budget :) and that's why they had to have the band playing each episode.

XTinker_Bellx - October 4, 2006 07:50 PM (GMT)
hee hee they had madness :D :D :D I heart madness.

kittyofdoom - October 4, 2006 08:04 PM (GMT)
Madness are great :) They played on The Young Ones twice, hehe. Oh, and it's another show that was filmed in Bristol, so it's cool when you recognise places.

XTinker_Bellx - October 4, 2006 09:00 PM (GMT)
twice? hmm I didn't know that.

They seem to film a lot of programmes in bristol, I wonder why that is.

Have I gone mad or did Adam Ant play on there?

kittyofdoom - October 4, 2006 09:02 PM (GMT)
I don't know about that, not sure. It's another show that could've and should've run for longer. Ah well.

XTinker_Bellx - October 4, 2006 09:03 PM (GMT)
hmm it might have been me imaging it I dunno. And yes it definately should have - they have a habit of cutting shows off too soon!
