Found on the BBC comedy page for Hippies. What did people think of Hippies by the way? Ever see it? I never got to see it properly (saw episode 1 & 2 I think), and they cancelled it quickly.

oooooh i LOVE Hippies¬!!!! it's not the best comedy show out there but it's fun and silly and.... has hippies in it!!!

i remember watching it back in 1999 and saying to a friend at school, "ooh that posh one who wears the velvet jackets and smokes without inhaling is GORGEOUS!¬!!!!"

See, i had good taste even when i was 16!!!

i managed to get a *cough* DVD copy... which is not in ANY way illegal.... *cough cough* so i can freeze frame on.... things.... :P

and, of course, loving the show made me interested in Simon Pegg, Julian and Sally, without which i would probably not have watched Spaced, Smack the Pony..... which would have been awful!!

so yeah, i have a real soft spot for Hippies!! and not just cos J R-T is sooooo SEXY in it!  :angel :wiggle :thumbsup

Hehe.

I watched the first episode of Hippies again recently (that's the only one I truly remember), and it was actually quite funny. Didn't deserve to be panned like it was. Shame.

You're RE teacher might call that sacrilegious, but if it's a woman the fact that it's JRT might cause her to overlook it.

Mac'sBestGirl - June 24, 2006 06:11 PM (GMT)
I'm with you Kitty! I would have done it at school. In fact, I would have done it JUST to wind my RE teacher up!! lol *sigh* Oh, the memories! School IS better looking back! lol

Mia - June 24, 2006 06:55 PM (GMT)
If i remember correctly my school books were all covered with johnny depp, james dean and james marsters. But none of them were dressed as jesus. In fact i remember i had one pic of johnny depp where he wasn't dressed in much at all, it kept us all amused during physics.

Me too, MBG, me too :) I loved riling the teachers, hehe, but only the ones that were unreasonable.

Yep, Kitty was a good ol' fashioned hell raiser ;) hehe.

*debbie*; if your teacher has any complaints, let her talk to me :) I relish a challenge.

Mac'sBestGirl - June 25, 2006 02:34 PM (GMT)
Hehehehe.... me too Kitty! We used to have a laugh with our RE teacher- cos he always thought he was really clever and knew all lifes secrets.... but never had any actual answers! It was very easy to confuse him and tie him up in knots! He would always just get really wound up and end up just saying something dogmatic like 'god is the answer thats all you need to know' or 'dont question gods work' and sending me outside to work! Hehehe..... my science teacher was a bit like that too! In fact, I did alot of lessons in corridors! Really pissed them all off that I aced my GCSE's!

:roflmao

GO YOU!

Have you done it, *debbie*?

Good on you, MBG and Kitty! It's so brilliant to wind teachers up. Even though I left school a number of years ago and should be more responsible, I still love the thought of kids winding up their teachers.

Sounds like your RE teacher was a bit of an Alan Statham (and you were his Boyce :roflmao ). :roflmao

Kitty, thank you for the Alex pics. I hope you don't mind but I've saved them and will send them to my mum because she's a JRT fan and fancies the pants off Alex in Hippies particularly.

I really never understood why Hippies wasn't well-received. I thought and still think it truly hilarious, myself. There are at least three of the GW cast as regulars in Hippies so I would definitely recommend it to GW fans.

Coolio.

Hehe, gotta love that sulky look :D

kittyofdoom - July 25, 2006 07:22 PM (GMT)
Ooh, paramount comedy 2, is it on at the moment? I've only ever seen the first episode (and bits of others). If ever anyone finds out it's to be televised again, please let me know :)

xpingux - July 25, 2006 07:26 PM (GMT)
I don't know :(
I'm annoyed that it wasn't brought out on dvd, but I'm downloading it *shush*

kittyofdoom - July 25, 2006 07:48 PM (GMT)
Argh, I can't download shows/films, I always get a load of gobbledegook and a bigger, nastier risk of bugs and viruses. It's just not worth the hassle for me. Oh well, shall just have to study the tv guides :)

Mia - July 25, 2006 08:53 PM (GMT)
I'm the same as kitty my computer just spazs out when i try to download things.

People on the GW community on L J told me how to use torrents. They are way confusing and sometimes take ages but it's worth it in the end if you get to see JRT :heart

kittyofdoom - July 27, 2006 07:47 AM (GMT)
Ah, I can't hack (no pun intended) bit torrents. Never mind though :)

xpingux - July 29, 2006 08:57 PM (GMT)
JRT is quite skinny in Hippies & his voice ahh it's really posh :o

Little_Simba - August 5, 2006 12:17 AM (GMT)
Hippies was brill, in my opinion, and I think far, far too underrated. I wish they'd made another series. :swearing A bit of a GW cast fest, that series, actually. :D

Little_Simba - November 17, 2006 05:57 PM (GMT)
Mentioning Hippies in another thread has got me in the mood for a Hippies chat. Anyone care to join me?

I was thinking the other day about "that whole two pricks thing" and the way Gill (or is it Jill?) was so outraged by it and then everyone got to hear about it, like Art Ledger. "You're a dirty, dirty man"

xpingux - November 17, 2006 06:07 PM (GMT)
haha :P

i wish simon pegg was in green wing that would have been amazing

i love the girl with a beard song

*waits for a Hippies fan to come along* :P

xpingux - January 27, 2008 05:46 PM (GMT)
I was browsing on HMV and I found out that they are finally releasing Hippies on DVD. I looked on amazon, play.com and Virgin/Zavvi and they all say the same, that it's being relased on the 10th of March :D
Im so glad it's finally being released because I made a DVD of it myself but it mucked up my DVD player so i'm scared to play it again  so I can't wait for the DVD :D
