Title: Mac Dying???? I Don't Think So.
Description: distant memory of something....

titty_thomas - May 20, 2006 01:03 PM (GMT)
I was just browsing the "cast" section and found the message from Steven Mangan. As much as his future projects interested me, what really caught my eye was this little gem:

QUOTE
The cast and crew are meeting up to watch it together and to ceremonially shave Julian bald

This could just be a throw-away comment with no significance, or it could be a clue to Mac's illness. It might suggest that he will be receiving Chemotherapy, which causes hair loss, and which is a treatment for cancer.

m+cshipper - May 20, 2006 01:06 PM (GMT)
yeh, but just thinking, haven't they filmed the christmas special already (hence the scenes with the funeral etc) and that means that they will have shaved his head after filming, unless they're still adding extra scenes!
but i hope that he is recovering .............although HIS LOVELY HAIR! haha

kittyofdoom - May 20, 2006 01:11 PM (GMT)
Even if Mac *is* having Chemo, JRT would not let them touch his hair. So it'd be a bald cap instead, although I doubt he'll be haing treatments, if it really is an illness which offers up the term 'game over', there'd be little point. It's probably in late stages.

I still don't believe it's real anyway. It's just too serious for GW.

m+cshipper - May 20, 2006 01:14 PM (GMT)
yeh, green wing has never been this serious......i just can't find myself believing it and i know that i'll be horribly disappointed at christmas when i find out its true! but serious doesn't suit the programme!

titty_thomas - May 20, 2006 01:35 PM (GMT)
QUOTE

Actually, for a comedy programme, Green Wing has a rare ability to portray genuine emotion, and make us care for the characters. Also, the serious scene of Mac seeing his results shows just how amazing the writers are at the subtleties of emotion and black humour. We had a scenes starting as a lighthearted discussion, and changing seamlessly into total seriousness, only for the balloon incident to make us laugh at the terrible irony of it all. Despite my utter despair of the situation, I was really impressed by how the scene was handled.

m+cshipper - May 20, 2006 01:38 PM (GMT)
it was good, i'm not saying they can't put serious in there, i just think that making a WHOLE storyline serious just wouldn't work for the show.......

they've demonstrated they can do serious well, and all kudos for JRT for making that scene amazing!! his acting was top drawer!!! but i think that it would take something out of the show to keep serious going, even if it is only in one storyline, it just takes away the essence of the show in my opinion, but after that is MY OPINION, and everynoe is allowed their own so please don't jump down my throat again for voicing my opinion, or speculating the future episodes. i don't think its particularly needed.

titty_thomas - May 20, 2006 01:47 PM (GMT)
Sorry m+cshipper. :( I didn't mean that to sound as harsh as it came across. Am still rather crabby from last night's episode, plus the fact that thinking about it stopped me getting to sleep for ages, and I'm rather grouchy on too little sleep!

*offers her hand to shake in gesture of peace and friendship*

IMO - May 20, 2006 01:52 PM (GMT)
I don't think the comment about shaving JRT is related at all to his character in Green Wing.

I read it as Steve making a funny comment, in what was a very informative post from him, and trying to wind us all up ;)

m+cshipper - May 20, 2006 01:54 PM (GMT)
*takes titty_thomas's hand and shakes* haha I'm pretty grouchy too, plus spent all morning dying under the invisible hangover hat!! its just the champagne that does it, not helped by numerous green wing related dreams in which everything i wanted happened, and then waking up to find its not true! haha

we must team together if we are to overcome last night episode!! it was like jumping into ice cold water!! haha

titty_thomas - May 20, 2006 03:25 PM (GMT)
I dunno about jumping into it, as having someone pour it down your throat - I felt all cold inside, lol! I was watching it my mate's house with all my friends, as we were celebrating leaving school, and after that, the jovial atmosphere just died. Everyone went home pretty soon after the episode ended. I was the most affected by it though, being the most Mac-obsessed - had to hang around for a good half an hour before I was in a fit state to drive myself home - my brain was so "gahhhh! too many thoughts!"

Then when I got home I just sat on my bed thinking about GW for about 25 mins, before turning the light out and closing my eyes. Even then my brain was on GW overload and I didn't get to sleep for ages, and my dreams were vaguely miserable and filled with characters from GW.

I'm now re-watching the episode, enjoying the pre-bad news bit, which is making me feel a little better. The kisses are very yummy, hummph *jealous*. Mac looks like a very good kisser, but then so does Guy and I can understand why Caro gets v.distracted when he kisses her - I'd probs do the same, being awfully bad at knowing what I want, and trying to be nice to everyone.

Handbaaaaaaaaaaaaag - May 20, 2006 08:13 PM (GMT)
This is going to sound really silly if I've missed anything important and please bear with me because I'm not totally sure of my facts here....

I vaguely remember someone being blackmailed into planting fake notes into someones medical files. I think it was Sue getting Guy to do it when she had his "video" or Martin to do it when Guy thought he was "the priest." I'm really sorry that this sounds so very vague, but I didn't video any of the episodes and only watched each ep twice when it was on TV. It was so long ago that it is just a distant memory, but a part of me has been waiting to find out just what was 'planted.' I assumed that when Mac found out that he was going to die that he was the victim of the dastardly deed and Sue has just been up to her old tricks. Can anybody check this out and confirm/deny it? As I said, it was a while ago and I am sure it was Sue. (It's just the kind of thing she would do isn't it?) Sorry if I am miles off here, but it has been really bugging me and youi all seem to know your stuff. :thumbsup

Look Like A Mug - May 20, 2006 08:17 PM (GMT)
Why would sue say mac was dying? Sue loves mac! But sue can do alot better than mac, we all know that. So she really would have no reason to plant the fake details, or get someone (guy) to do it for her. still, awesome first post.

p.s: noooo! not more shipping! gaah!

Again with the vagueness....lol. I am sure she said something along the lines of "let's see if she (caroline) still wants him when she finds out about this"...kinda thing. I must sound soooooo dim right now. :blush

and don't worry, I'm not a shipper of any description. ;) I love them all and don't care who ends up with who as long as they make more Green Wing!!!! pleeeeeeeease!

Some people might think "WTF  :o  ;) :o  " because they didn't see that bit, if that was the ending. But it's a good idea none-the-less.

newestgreenwingfan01 - May 20, 2006 08:24 PM (GMT)
aaaaaagh!!!! does anyone remember during the videotape episode sue asks angela to make up that caroline todd has a horrible disease in order for mac to ditch her?!!! maybe angela felt some deepdown loyalty towards caroline so puts it in macs folder!!!!!

i could be jumping to the entirely wrong conclusions but it could be the case!!!

Handbaaaaaaaaaaaaag - May 20, 2006 08:42 PM (GMT)
Maybe I am just getting withdrawal symptoms and it's sending me a bit doolally.  I'll just have to wait for it to come out on DVD to put my mind at rest. :) I'm missing it already. :sob

xpingux - May 20, 2006 08:44 PM (GMT)
On C4 forums;

When Sue was "giving birth" to the lion cub, she was singing The Circle Of Life. I know this could just be because of the whole Lion King reference, but it could ALSO be because she fixed the test results - The new Simba takes over from the "dying" Mac.

And she gave him the balloons just seconds before he found out about his fate...so does she actually know and is getting her own back?

Mac cant be dead/dying because didn't he get given the all clear in episode 2  why would tests still be being carried out this late on? i think sue or someone has something to do with this...

Je suis tres confused.

newestgreenwingfan01 - May 20, 2006 08:56 PM (GMT)
oh yeah!! he was - guy kept saying cant you say somethings wrong with him?

i dont think guy wud tamper wit dem, i mean macs his best friend, although they insult each other, deep down they hav some affection for each other!!!

my moneys on sue or angela or holly!!!

kittyofdoom - May 20, 2006 11:35 PM (GMT)
There is a thread about this here, Sue asks Angela to tell Mac that Caroline has some horrid disease, they're speculating over the outcome of that.

IMO - May 21, 2006 11:26 AM (GMT)
Just got out the PVA glue and stuck the two threads together :D

I like the sound of fake notes being put in a folder *grasps straws and hangs on*

IMO - May 21, 2006 12:18 PM (GMT)
How do we know the notes are Mac's. They obviously didn't have Mac's name on or he would have noticed when he was first shown them, and they were loose as opposed to being in his file. :ph43r:

Hence why I thought it was the restraining order

Sue loves Mac too much to do that to him IMO.... (I mean that in my opinion, not responding to you personally IMO... lol)

xpingux - May 21, 2006 02:49 PM (GMT)
C4 Forums;

Sue White told Guy about a taxidermist remember?;
'The only way you can be with her is to kill her and have or stuffed' she said something along those lines, maybe Sue thought that after the restraining order that the only way she could be with Mac is by killing him?
:o

Gaah I hope she just faked papers!

But you never know, the writers can cut what they like and move stuff around.

That was it! I remembered that someone was asked to plant something of that sort but I'd forgotten who. :blush I think that if Sue would do that to Caroline...she would do it to anyone. ;) Sorry about the vagueness of my original post, I'm 40+ and my memory isn't as good as it used to be.  Obviously I had got it all wrong, but it's possible that it was a clue to what Sue would be willing to do to somebody if she felt she needed to?

BTW, hello everyone. :thumbsup

Isn't that the same Guy who is willing to run away with Macs girlfriend? ;) He knows Mac loves her, yet he has tried everything to ruin their relationship.... :o :excited You never know with Guy.... B)

m+cshipper - May 21, 2006 03:06 PM (GMT)
yeh but angela was for mac and caro so wouldn't put anything in mac's file saying he was dying!!

i think it was sue, i mean she knew he'd be at the doctors and gave him congrats balloons (although i know some of you will be thinking that they were because she gave birth to simba)......

I just think that the writers are leaving us with dreadful news and then making it all better. it isn't the last episode so anything can change, especially in a full 90 mins!!

btw i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but i think the fact there is a christmas special and they're making it longer is because there will be no series 3, an this is making it all come to a conclusion (which means its likely mac will die)......i'm hoping i'm wrong but i just see this as likely!!

It would be a shame if the series ended at Christmas, but good things have to come to an end at some point. I will just remember what an amazing series, and how innovative and creative it was and hope that it will encourage more writers to be brave. :) I'm still holding out hope though... ;) Looking at how popular it has been may make them think twice about ending it. B) De-Nile isn't just a river in egypt.

_faeriequeen on the wonder that is LJ said this;

Didn't the yoyo man say something along the lines of "Don't die alone in a place like this like me"? So wouldn't this still be playing heavily on Mac's mind even if he did phone Guy to tell him to go and meet Caroline? He HAS to try and get her back!! I refuse to think otherwise!

This is the same Sue who was busy making a life sized Mac out of clay the other week. Next step, make him think he's dying, wack him over the head with a saucepan and stuff him ;)

The women's insane, who knows what's going on in her brain.

Handbaaaaaaaaaaaaag - May 21, 2006 03:24 PM (GMT)
I just realised that this has been moved to the 'spoilers' thread. I'm so sorry, I didn't think of it as a spoiler as such, I just remembered something that I had seen earlier in the series and wondered if anybody could clear it up for me. I hate spoilers and wouldn't want to ruin anything for anyone! Please forgive me? :blush

i would dearly love to think that mac will undergo treatment in series 3 and recover, but i dont think this wil happen. is anyone else worried about how caroline will react when she finds out?

titty_thomas - May 21, 2006 08:49 PM (GMT)
I have a horrid feeling that Caroline isn't going to find out, at least not until it's too late. Mac seems the type to keep his illness to himself and, especially if he thinks Caroline is happy with Guy, won't want to do anything to ruin that for them - he'll just think it's what she wants, and stand back and let them get married. Otherwise, Caroline would break things off with Guy the minute she found out about Mac, and that would be rubbish plot-writing - you have to keep people in suspense! I'm not saying Caroline and Guy will end up actually getting married, but it must carry on for a pretty long time to make a decent show-down.

macandcarolineforever - May 21, 2006 08:53 PM (GMT)
yeah im guessing your right, i reckon she wont find out till its too late, marry Guy then Mac will die. oh thats so sad now iv written it, PLEASE PLEASE HOPE THAT MACS OK AND GREENWING RETURNS FOR A 3RD SERIES.

I should know by now not to come in this thread - it's too :cry

However, I've spent most of this Series waiting for a big Mac/Guy fight which hasn't happened yet - so maybe Episode 9 is where it all explodes. :) In fact, I've been waiting the whole series for Mac to start fighting back - please please please let it all happen in the final episode *begs*.

you have made a still upset nearly 16 year old girl very happy.
i dont think holly did it though, maybe holly?
thinking that they could somehow twistedly get back together?
