Title: Message From Steve
Description: posted on his Forum

This was posted today on the Steve Mangan Forum. It certainly looks genuine this time, apart from the comment about shaving JRT :o

I bumped into a couple of you at the Confetti premier who told me about this site and who said that someone had been sending messages saying they were me. It's taken me a while to get around to having a look at the site and I have to say I am completely bowled over by it. Absolutely gob-smacked. Helen (I think you are the brains behind it) it's incredibly flattering that you've gone to such effort to set up and run it and I can only say a huge thank you. There are some clips on here that I've never seen before. I saw very little of Armando's show when it was shown and missed several of the Adrian Mole episodes. I'm going to have to spend a bit of time here catching up on my career!

Tonight is, of course, the last episode of this series of Green Wing and I won't spoil it by giving anything away. The cast and crew are meeting up to watch it together and to ceremonially shave Julian bald.

Jane Hall's Big Bad Bus Ride is now to be called simply Jane Hall and will be aired in early July, 8th or 9th if my memory serves me right. I've seen the first 2 episodes and liked it. It was filmed before GW series 1 was aired so we've waited a long time. Sarah Smart is the star and the programme is half about her life as a bus driver (alongside Gillian Taylforth, Ian Reddington, Rob Glenister and others) and half about her home life where she is trying to decide who to be with, me or Daniel Lapaine's character...I know, another love triangle!

I recently recorded Jack Rosenthal's Last Act, a 4 part series for Radio 4. I'd worked with Jack twice, on Lucky Jim and on Ready When You Are Mister McGill (where I played the writer character) and with Maureen on a radio comedy, the name of which escapes me (Julia MacKenzie was in it too), and Supertex. I also know their daughter Amy who adapted Jack's book for radio. A huge honour to be asked. We had a fantastic week recording it, great fun and often v emotional. Jack was a funny, warm, bright and generous man. I hope we did him justice. No idea when that'll go out.

The Imp was a laugh to do and we recorded quite a few episodes, about 20 I think. Don't know what's happened to it.

Someone Else is looking for a distributor. Like a lot of films shooting it is only half the battle. I can't tell you what it's like because I haven't seen it, though I keep nagging Col (director) to show it to us. We shot it about 18 months ago in North London and it's about my character's difficulty in finding a girlfriend after I lose 2 very quickly.

I'm recording a pilot of the book Is It Just Me or Is Everything Shit for Channel 4 in June. I'm presenting the show but in character. If they like it and I like it we'll do a series.

And for some reason I'm presenting one show of MTV's movie review programme. We're filming it next Wednesday. I sit in a big white chair apparently.

That's all the definite stuff I can think of. There are lots of ideas and propositions floating around but it wouldn't be right for me to say too much about that stuff at the moment.

Thank you all again for your interest and support, it means a great deal, and keep up the good work Helen!

That suggests that Mac's illness may well be a tumour and that he's recieving Chemo for it. Could just be a jokey comment by Steve, of course, but who knows?

That should be good, it's an hilarious book :) a bit like Grumpy Old Men, but rings true with people of most ages.
