Title: Bitter And Twisted
Description: New one off comedy on Channel 4
IMO - October 2, 2007 09:25 PM (GMT)
Bitter and Twisted: A dark poignant romantic sitcom starring Stephen Mangan (Green Wing) and Sharon Horgan (Pulling). The comedy follows an on-but-mostly-off romance that might just have a future if the past can be forgotten. Anthony Head also stars as the boss of a talent agency.
Don't know when this is on, but it's part of Channel 4's one off new comedy slot starting next month.
Just thought you Manganits might like to know :)

Yes the trailer was on Channel 4 last night with clips from the shows - I didn't see SM but Mike did and said that's whatshisname from Green Wing. It was very upsetting when he then said the one that played Guy :sob

I fell asleep halfway through...then was rudely woken by Mrs Doyle blowing a foghorn in Father Ted!
Obscenely pervy Giles seemed a bit wrong really.

Will someone tell me how 4od works? Do I have to download anything?
I was doing the play when this was on :(
littlered - November 12, 2007 07:21 PM (GMT)
And that is why I didn't watch it. I read a thing about it in the TV guide last week that was quite negative, and said you'd only find it funny depending on how funny you thought it was to see Anthony Head as a "coke-snorting lech". I decided my answer was "not funny at all" and avoided it like the plague.

You do have to download it
websitethen you can either stream content or download it to watch at a later date. catch up is free as are certain other things, films are £1.99, other programs are 99p.
guyoline - November 12, 2007 07:55 PM (GMT)
so do you think it's worth me watching or not? I may not actually bother hmm I'll see...
Little_Simba - November 13, 2007 12:12 AM (GMT)
I think it's worth watching if you're a Mangan fan. Stephen's in just about every scene... Yeah, can't think of a scene he isn't in... and his character's q. interesting, I think... but the programme, as a whole, I'm sorry to say left a bit to be desired. :(
My main problem with it was the lack of story as rather little actually went on. If dialogue or visual humour or romance or something similar are strong in something I don't mind a lack of plot but this wasn't really the case for Free Agents - it seemed to be lacking q. a bit.
The characters are its strength, imo, so, if scripts were improved, I think something could be made of it but, as it was, it was something of a disappointment. I mean, there was a lot of background written but not much action filmed.
IMO - November 13, 2007 04:10 PM (GMT)
One or two bits were funny, but all the language left a bit to be desired  and if they were trying to be funny with all the Anthony Head bits, it didn't work
Little_Simba - November 14, 2007 04:09 PM (GMT)
Well, it depends on your sense of humour but they were clearly trying to rely on shock to force laughter. That is always thought of as 'not clever' and all that but it can be if handled right. Sadly, though, it just wasn't in this.
IMO - November 14, 2007 09:41 PM (GMT)
No the "let's shock the audience into laughing by using loads of really rude words" just didn't work, as it just wasn't believable
