Title: Darren Boyd
Description: How is there not already a topic for him

bingle - May 4, 2007 03:45 PM (GMT)
Just read a review of Mitchell and Webb's film 'Magicians' and noticed him in the cast list, and it rated his performance in it. Not sure how big a part he plays, but apparently he plays an agent.

Ooh, why hadn't we a Darren Boyd thread before? :( He's brilliant!

I'm fed up I haven't seen Magicians because that's the first film this year that I've really wanted to see and been looking forward to for ages but haven't managed to get to the cinema for ages. I was going to go the first weekend it was out but that was an absolute nightmare of a weekend (Don't ask). :cry

Saw him in Saxondale last night. Along with the woman who played Robbie's teacher/voice coach.

Little_Simba - August 24, 2007 04:07 PM (GMT)
Bugger! I missed Saxondale AGAIN! :cry

He popped up in Saxondale again last night, and I have to say, he looked pretty good in the suit he was wearing. Not an alice band in sight!

Port-ahh Lover - August 31, 2007 12:48 PM (GMT)
I watched it too!

He looks really different without long hair...I kinda miss it..

Bike Squad (ITV1 Pilot)
A 90 minute ITV1 Pilot written by Guy Jenkin, co-writer of Drop the Dead Donkey. Bike Squad is about a group of policeman on bicycles - they are "policemen who are shunted off to the bike squad because basically they are not very good as policemen." The show, being made by Tiger Aspect, will star Mark Addy and David Ryall
.

Apparently Darren is also staring in this. Haven't a clue when it's going to be on - I found the bit above on the British Sitcom Site ;)

Now I've just found this when I was trying to find something completely different

Channel 4 unveils six new comedy pilots for November

Channel 4 is hoping to strike comedy gold having commissioned six new pilots intended to have us chortling to our hearts content. The network will be celebrating its 25th birthday later this year and the comedy shows, to be screened in November, will be part of the hearty back-slapping.

Entitled The Comedy Playhouse shows, the six stabs at tickling our funny bones include Ladies and Gentlemen, a Victorian sitcom. From the comedy minds of Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong from Peep Show fame, the show will star The League of Gentlemen’s Reece Shearsmith and Darren Boyd from Smack the Pony. Other offerings include the intriguingly described ‘British take on My Name is Earl’ called Plus One which guest stars Duncan from boy band Blue, and romantic comedy Bitter and Twisted.

So three down and three more to go. The remaining trio features Martin Freeman in Other People, an as yet unnamed vehicle for Kevin Bishop (Star Stories and those god-awful Nat West commercials) and Eejits from comedy veteran Arthur Matthews.

With six shots at humour you’d like to think that at least one of them might raise a titter. Let’s hope so.

Did watch Magicians yesterday...8 quid in Tesco's!! Have to say him and Jessica are funniest people in it!
Its so cute after the credits when they show Darren buried up to his neck in sand, telly karl to rescue him - Darrens charcter has gay love for him!

Little_Simba - October 29, 2007 07:54 PM (GMT)
From what I've seen and heard of these, they're pretty damn good. Sadly, I wasn't in to see Darren's but my mum and dad told me it was v. good. :) I hope there will be series of a few of these in the making.

Darren's just been in Christmas at the Riveria - I didn't recognise him at first with short hair :)

IMO - January 4, 2008 11:22 PM (GMT)
And he's just been on ITV in Bike Squad as a spaced out policeman :D

Chapman - January 5, 2008 09:56 AM (GMT)
i think bike squad was really good, was it a one off thing? at an hour and a half it probably was

Little_Simba - January 5, 2008 03:53 PM (GMT)
If it was successful, they might do a sequel.

IMO - January 5, 2008 06:54 PM (GMT)
I think it was a one off, but it should be made into a series :D
