Write up in the Radio Times:-

This one-off drama about single women in Edinburgh comes with a major health warning: it is absolutely filthy. A volatile black farce that could scorch the hair off a docker's chest, it is full of weird sex, graphic drugs scenes, fighting, gunplay and some of the worst swearing you'll hear on TV.

But, big, but, it is also very funny and beautifully made. It revolves around a gang of four girlfriends led by hairdresser Amanda (Michelle Gomez from Green Wing), who is busily preparing for her imminent wedding to a Welsh airline pilot. The others have less joy with men. Sharon is conduting a scandalous affair, crack-head ex-model Rhona's boyfriend was killed by a joyrider, and Kelly (Shirley Henderson) is licking ancient wounds.

The script was co-written by Dean Cavanagh and Irvine Welsh, and I feel obliged to describe it as being a kind of female Trainspotting. But that's a good thing, the dialogue is fiercely funny and the strangeness believable. When you learn that the producer's previous work includes The League of Gentlemen and Muphy's Law, it all starts to make sense.
