Moonmonkeys - Pilot

This surreal comedy stars Karl Theobald (Green Wing) and Dan Antopolski (Hyperdrive) as Nigel and Peter, a couple of misfits who live out their fantasies whilst working the nightshift at a garage.
Refusing to be ground down by his mundane job, Peter uses the CCTV cameras to record his acting showreel. But when the garage is robbed and the crime goes unrecorded, they realise they must fake the security tape and re-enact the robbery, or face losing their jobs.

Ohhh it's quite good - I loved the fluffer bits because of GW, and the trucker who comes in to play chess :) And Karl looks so much better without the curly hair and the face hair :)

That was really good actually, love the fact they said 'bloody bastards' at regular interviews and Karls speech at gun point about hiding from death in the shed.. :P very impressed!

I did my 'got bored' bit and gave up...like I did with world music with JRT lol
The guy who wasn't Karl (sorry, I forgot his name) was very much like Howard from the Mighty Boosh, though...

There were some very good lines in this actually. The bit when he says about going to America and puts his arm out pointing, and Karl say's What as a Nazi?

Page 169 the page where people send there letters in there is one that comments on this slightly!!
"BBC3 is supposed to be a breeding ground for fresh new comedy. But two recent comedy pilots, MOONMONKEYS and Be More Ethnic, were recently snuck out on the channel well after midnight on consecutive nights (1.00am 16 march/12.40am 17 march) Both were on later (and therefore seen as less important) than an hour long of Two Pints of Larger and a Packet of Crisps repeats. Why?"
"BBC3 Schedule manager Ian Boaler responds: "BBC3 is indeed the breeding ground for fresh new UK comedy. In the first four months of this year we will have played 12 one-off comedies, launched Comedy Shuffle (our showcase for new talent), the sitcom Thieves Like Us, and Rush Hour, a new sketch show. These programmes play at different time and we know that comedy can attract a relatively high audience after midnight. We do not regard these slots as unimportant."
Both programmes, according to overnight ratings attracted fewer than 100,00 viewers - not high figures, but not too far behind other recent pilots in the Comedy Specials series taht were shown in prime 9.30pm slots

They should be on at nine or no ones going to hear anything about them. Take a leaf out of the advertising campaign by the Skins team. Or ugly betty.
