She'S best known for playing the neurotic Dr Caroline Todd in the hit Channel 4 series Green Wing.

So it's no surprise that Tamsin Greig won best actress at the Laurence Olivier Awards for playing another eccentric female lead – Beatrice in Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing.

She was presented with her 'Larry' by Hollywood stars Don Johnson and Kim Cattrall.

She had them and the audience in stitches with her acceptance speech. 'I think I've just done a wee – and

it's not my dress either,' she said. The actress then jokingly thanked her three children, 'who let me live away from home for seven months and didn't seem to care'.

Greig was joined on the winner's podium by Rufus Sewell, who was named best actor for his role in Tom Stoppard's play Rock 'n' Roll.

Best supporting performance in the awards, which recognise the best of London stage, went to Jim Norton, aka Bishop Brennan in Father Ted, for his role in The Seafarer.

Sheila Hancock received one of the biggest cheers of the evening for her award for best performance in a supporting role in a musical, for Cabaret.

But the biggest winner at the ceremony at Grosvenor House in Park Lane was the musical Sunday In The Park With George, which clinched five gongs, including best actress in a musical for Jenna Russell.

Caroline, or Change, Tony Kushner and Jeanine Tesori's drama about a black maid in 1960s Louisiana, won best new musical.

David Harrower won best new play for Blackbird, while The 39 Steps won best new comedy.

Proper squeeing at the metro this morning, much to the confusement of my parents. Loved her facial expression on the picture but really not sure about that dress, especially with the pouffey beige wrap...

ooh why do thye not have the metro on the busses near me :cry I want the paper now and I can't get the player thing to work for me which is making me even more sad - maybe I'll go on my old computer a little bit later and watch it on there :( I wanna see it!!
