anyways, i'm very excited to get to meet you all, so hi!

Shh. That's beside the point.
Bliss (do you want to be called that?) do you find that some of the humour/references in Green Wing don't really work in America, or are cultural differences not really an issue?

xX-Silver-and-Cold-Xx - February 10, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)
yo! ... lol erm hello .. nice to meet you or talk to you or .. well whatever enjoy yourself .. I'm Alice ... by the way ;)

xjessx - February 10, 2007 09:10 PM (GMT)
Allloo...ooooo your from far away!!! *Waves the big wave*

gingerbliss - February 11, 2007 02:49 AM (GMT)
wow. i guess in answer to some of your questions:

1. yes, i have seen s2 and some of the special (really just the proposal scene); bbc america has an odd habit of broadcasting GW at 3am, so i've had to fudge the dvds off my friend who lives in london
2. i appreciate all of the GW men
3. most of the humour, etc translates pretty well-- i only had a couple of "lost in translation" moments, and they were mostly things like anesthesiologist/ anesthetist (probably spelled that wrong :P ) or not necessarily knowing which accents go with which area of England, but those didn't really matter so much because i could figure them out given the context of the scene. :)
4. yes, do call me bliss if you like!

glad to be here! see you around!

PigRescuer - February 11, 2007 08:16 AM (GMT)

Of course I didn't think of that.

The whole 'Do you know I'm unemployed and I have a mullet' scene wouldn't really work without knowing British culture. :D

I'm glad that you've seen series 2! But only the bananary kiss/ proposal scene?

Have you not got the DVD yet?

xX-Silver-and-Cold-Xx - February 11, 2007 11:59 AM (GMT)
heh never thought about that either ... suppose there are a few scenes in there that you have to be British to get... but then again thats obvious :blush

swissluvagirl - February 11, 2007 12:55 PM (GMT)
Are you a CaroMac or CaroGuy shipper?

And a question: Do you like Dunkin' Donuts?

oiyoupingpongman - February 11, 2007 04:07 PM (GMT)
Wow! An 100% genuine american article! Nice to meet you bliss, i am the one they call ping pong :P have a lotta lotta fun!
Aw Gabi, I saw some doughnuts yesterday...had no money but almost mugged the van to get my mitts on some...now youve reminded me and I NEED DOUGHNUTS!

gingerbliss - February 11, 2007 11:27 PM (GMT)
I'm working on getting the DVD --- it's not been released here in the US, so I have to wait for them to ship it all the way over here <_< .... I do ship CaroMac, though I can definitely see the appeal of CaroGuy sometimes (i.e. the whole MacKenzie incident...accident....incident). Dunkin Doughnuts is alright, but to be honest I find their food to be extremely sweet/sugary, though they are a lovely treat once in a while.

IMO - February 11, 2007 11:34 PM (GMT)
Hey you're on line. I'm just about to go to bed but will say a quick hello before I go. Hope you get the DVD soon ;)

Ohhh just realised you'll get to see the Pilot TV show that Victoria Pile is producing, which has been put together by some of the Green Wing writers. There is a thread about this in the News Section of the Forum ;) Anyway you can be our USA Reporter when it comes out :cheer2 Especially as this is something you will get to see before us.

swissluvagirl - February 12, 2007 12:45 PM (GMT)
Yay for DONUTS. I love them, and allways end up getting some when I come over! We have this random guy who has this tape on a continuous loop saying " HOT DOUNTS GET YOUR LOVELY HOT DONUTS NICE AND FRESH"

They may be nice and fresh but they are by no means lovely.

Oooh IMO that's smart!

Have you heard about it bliss?

Clickety Click Click Click

gingerbliss - February 14, 2007 12:32 AM (GMT)
Ooooh! I had heard that ABC picked it up---- I'm so excited! :D And of course, I would be honored to serve as your USA Reporter! B)

Now the only thing better than this would be if we heard some news about the spinoff.... *floats off to her dreamworld* :cloud

guyoline - February 14, 2007 01:06 AM (GMT)
w00t w00t we have a USA reporter :D

ooh can I ask if you watch any other midical shows like Grey's anatomy (whch I'm obessed with...) and House M.D and Scrubs etc..

oh and a defining question for me to ask you

Friends or fraiser?

gingerbliss - February 14, 2007 02:34 AM (GMT)
I actually watch all three of the shows you mentioned (Grey's Anatomy, House M.D., and Scrubs) and love them all! Did you see last week's Grey's? Very very dramatic--I can't wait to see what'll happen. What do you think of Scrubs in terms of its relationship to GW? I've always thought of it as the less realistic/more sitcommy American little brother of GW....

Ah, Friends v. Frasier. Do you know, I've never really watched that much Frasier, so I guess my answer would have to be Friends--I was too young to appreciate the humor of Frasier when it was running, I think, though I do like David Hyde Pierce very much.

swissluvagirl - February 14, 2007 02:37 PM (GMT)
Friends defo. In Fraiser I don't think so much of the character relationships and that bloody dog gets way too much attention.

I do like scrubs, I like the fact it has a lot of physical stuff which makes me laugh, and I like Zack Braff 2. But not as much as GW of course.

littlered - February 14, 2007 03:08 PM (GMT)
I love Scrubs, although it you describe Green Wing as more realistic - I know Scrubs has a lot of surreal fantasy moments, but can it really compare to the Queen of Insania, Sue White? I suppose they're both realistic in different ways.

guyoline - February 14, 2007 03:26 PM (GMT)
go to the grey's thread in the tv section cause there are only 2 or 3 of us who have seen series 3 (as it's not actually been aired over here yet) but oh my gosh mere! i was in tears like oh my! I can't wait to see what happens now...

errr oh yeah I'm very very glad you said friends otherwise I might have had to kill you - I'm like obessed with that show you see it's MY thing! I knw everything about it  wht did you think of joey? I've only seen the first 2 episodes of series 2 but i thought it was kinda funny but it's not the same without the rest of them - I was still upset that it got axed though...

swissluvagirl - February 14, 2007 03:49 PM (GMT)
Yay Friends!!!!! And are you a fan of Will and Grace. I love Jack!

Anyway. Ohhh someone should write a Friends/GW/WAG fic!

guyoline - February 14, 2007 04:18 PM (GMT)
well I know that someone is planning a Freinds/GW crossover so Don't worry about that

and will and grace it's all about "just jack!"

PigRescuer - February 14, 2007 06:56 PM (GMT)
There is a W&G crossover... Written by Sally, so you can guess what happens there. :D

guyoline - February 14, 2007 07:28 PM (GMT)
