Title: Magical Mini Musicals!!
Description: All together now...
oiyoupingpongman - January 17, 2007 04:42 PM (GMT)
Yee haw! Finally I have a chance to combine two of my favourite things to do – writing fics and singing ridiculously loudly! Basically, mini musicals involves writing a shortish fanfic, based around either the title or lyrics of a song. I thought it might be fun if everyone else could try to guess what the song was. This first one’s pretty blooming obvious. So go try and out-create me! Sure it won’t be that difficult!
“Where are we going Boyce?!” sighed Caroline in exasperation. “Why don’t you just tell us already!”
“I already told you! It’s a surprise wedding present for you and Mac. Emphasis on the word surprise”
“Come on you tosspot” chimed in Guy. “I can’t sit next to Mac for too long. I’ll probably catch whatever he’s got. Herpes was it?”
“Yeah, you gave it to me I believe. Probably caught it from your dear old Mum didn’t you?” replied Mac, clapping Guy jovially on the shoulder. Guy tried to kick his leg, missed and hit Martin. “Oww! What was that for!” he whimpered
“Boys! Stop it! Its Boycie’s new car!” said Caroline angrily. “How did you afford this anyway Boyce? Brand new Chrysler! Must have cost a bomb!”
“Well you know…those gullible older women…full purses and no one to spend it on. I’m doing them a charity really... Hey look! That’s where we’re going!”
Caroline peered out the window to see a slightly faded sign by the side of the road. It read ’15 miles to the Love Shack’
“I hear that’s where it’s at” said Boycie with a sly grin.
Inside, the place was packed out, it was hot as an oven and Boyce admired the surplus of scantily clad women before winking to the others and saying “See you later everybody, I believe I have some girls to meet!”
“Oi Boycie! This wasn’t a present for us at all was it? It’s just an excuse for you to go out on the pull! Boyce! Come back!” yelled Mac fruitlessly.
“Laydeeees” said Martin, sidling up to a nearby group of girls, who gave him an odd look and moved away.
“Better luck next time mate” Guy rubbed his hands together with glee. “Now where’s the bar?”
An hour later, everybody had made it to the dance floor and the over-enthusiastic DJ was yelling randomly “I want to see you all moving! That’s right! Shake those asses. And…. shimmmmyyyyyy”
“Get lost fairy boy!” retorted a voice from the audience (wonder who that could be.)
Mac and Caroline were dancing closely, although Mac was not sure if Caroline was swaying in time to the music or due to the copious amounts of vodka she had just consumed.
“Hello brand-shpanking-new-husband” she giggled drunkenly. “Oh I like your hair, it’s sho sho shiny” Reaching forward to stroke Macs hair she almost fell flat on her face. Mac picked her up and headed in the direction of the toilets with Caroline singing raucously over his shoulder “Oh tequuuuiiillllaa, she makes me HAPPY.”
“I think *hic* I’m a bit tipsy” smiled Caroline from the floor of the toilet cubicle where her legs had given way. “Oh, déjà vu!”
“Come here you” grinned back Mac, sitting her on his knee and kissing his wife passionately. Just then there was a furious hammering on the door. “Let me in! I need a piss!”
“Guy, is that you? What are you doing in the ladies toilets?”
“What are you doing in here gingerballs? Oh, are you kiiiissssssiiiinnng? Is it lush?”
“I can’t hear you Guy”
“Well I’ll knock a little louder shall I honey?!” there was the sound of running footsteps and then a deafening *BANG* as Guy ran headfirst into the door. Then, silence.
“Do you think he’s gone or just unconscious?”
On the dancefloor Martin was showing off his best moves to a crowd of what he thought were ardent admirers. Step to the front, hop to the side, twirl, robot arms…Stop! Its Marty time! “Funkeeeeeyyyyyy!!”

Sorry its so depressing! Hope its a bit easier to guess! Musical no.2
Guy turned over in his hotel bed to gaze at the empty pillow beside him. Why couldn’t he just go to sleep?! Placing a careful hand on it he remembered when Caroline’s head had nestled into the soft white material and how she had gazed trustingly back at him as he stroked her hair. But, quite uninvited, Caroline’s hair suddenly morphed into something much more curly and ginger. This new face smirked at him triumphantly. Guy sat bolt upright. Mac! Caroline! They were married and this was their wedding night. It should have been mine he thought, desperately trying to block out the images that were filling his head: Caroline, his Caroline, gently placing her hands on Macs chest, her dress being lifted over her head as she gazed lovingly into her husbands eyes, letting all thoughts of Guy disappear. The scene played out in his head like a nightmare, with him as a helpless onlooker, unable to watch and yet unable to look away.
As the couple began to kiss, lips pressed hungrily together, Guy felt his stomach turn violently and retched over the side of the bed. The term ‘jealousy’ didn’t even begin to describe how he was feeling. He was beyond jealousy now; grabbing the pillow he threw it to the ground and beat it into submission wishing all the time it was Mac’s stupid, stupid face he was beating to a pulp. How could he feel like this, when all his life he had managed to remain so emotionally detached from the women he had slept with? He should have known better, should have known she’d only hurt him and leave him. Just like his blasted mother. He wished at that moment, more than anything in the world that he’d never set eyes on Caroline Todd, that he’d never kissed her during that poker game. It had all started with that kiss, only a kiss. How could it end up like this?

oiyoupingpongman - January 17, 2007 07:51 PM (GMT)
I heart brandon :heart
Mr. Brightside - The Killers
Coming out of my cage
And I've been doing just fine
Gotta gotta be down
Because I want it all
It started out with a kiss
How did it end up like this?
It was only a kiss
It was only a kiss
Now I'm falling asleep
And she's calling a cab
While he's having a smoke
And she's taking the drag
Now they're going to bed
And my stomach is sick
And it's all in my head
But she's touching his chest now
He takes off her dress now
Let me go
And I just can't look
It's killing me
And taking control
Jealousy
Turning saints into the sea
Turning through sick lullaby
Joking on your alibi
But it's just the price I pay
Destiny is calling me
Open up my eager eyes
I'm Mr. Brightside
(repeat)
oiyoupingpongman - January 17, 2007 07:52 PM (GMT)

madelinenancy - January 17, 2007 07:53 PM (GMT)

Guy sat, watching the dirty river flow by into the night from his window, watching the people on the street, busying around in a dizzying whirl, taxis zooming along, all so detached from his own stillness. All so detached from the invisible cocoon he had built for himself, built around the certain knowledge that he didn’t need anybody, not anymore, not ever. Never had done. All he needed was this flat, and himself, and that was enough.
It was the same, every Friday, every Friday that he pretended to her he didn’t know what was happening, every night he tried to hide the cracks growing inside him. The only night he let it out was tonight, when he allowed himself to sit into the growing chillness of the evening and watch the sun set over the window.
Mac met Caroline, at the station, every Friday night. But he never said a word, never contested or brought it up with her. It wasn’t that he was lazy, wasn’t that he didn’t want to break whatever they had and go his separate way, it wasn’t even that he was too scared.
It wasn’t perfection, the three of their lives, but he didn’t want to disturb the shaky equilibrium they had, just by being selfish and denying both of them the one little bit of each other they had. He glanced above the roof of the station at the pinky yellow beauty of the sunset and sighed, resting his cheek on the glass, wondering idly if he should try doing something some Friday, try going out. But he knew in his heart he never would, partly because it was nice to have this little time to himself, in his own little cocoon.
He watched the hordes of people pour out of the underground like a swarm of flies, and saw them in his mind’s eye.
Mac sees her and smiles, reaching for the helmet and silently holding it out to her. She pulls it onto her head and holds him round the middle, as he drives away into the fading light. They go for miles, not needing words, not needing gratification or anything more than the other’s company, or the security they have there.
Words would mean acceptance, discussion, a reminder of the real world in which he now has only weeks to live, in which she’s engaged to another man.
He finally stops in the park, and they sit, together, watching the sunset, in paradise for those, if scarce, moments.

oiyoupingpongman - January 17, 2007 08:09 PM (GMT)
I have heard the song, but i only know the chorus, can u post the lyrics MN?
bingle - January 17, 2007 08:10 PM (GMT)
If you want to keep Mac on side you'd best learn the lyrics!!
Dirty old river, must you keep rolling
Flowing into the night
People so busy, makes me feel dizzy
Taxi light shines so bright
But I dont need no friends
As long as I gaze on waterloo sunset
I am in paradise
Every day I look at the world from my window
But chilly, chilly is the evening time
Waterloo sunsets fine
Terry meets julie, waterloo station
Every friday night
But I am so lazy, dont want to wander
I stay at home at night
But I dont feel afraid
As long as I gaze on waterloo sunset
I am in paradise
Every day I look at the world from my window
But chilly, chilly is the evening time
Waterloo sunsets fine
Millions of people swarming like flies round waterloo underground
But terry and julie cross over the river
Where they feel safe and sound
And the dont need no friends
As long as they gaze on waterloo sunset
They are in paradise
Waterloo sunsets fine
Dr. Baroline Trodd - January 17, 2007 08:12 PM (GMT)
I have actually heard that. I knew the tune...it was the 'Terry meets Julie' bit that got me!
Still, slight possibilty of stabbage by scalpel...

Well, if we don't appreciate the genius of the Kins, we'll just have to be extra compassionate, unredictable and in touch with our masculine sides; and have the most thoughtful eyes ever.
MN, was it you who said that the song "Going Missing" made you think of Mac? Because if it was, I completely agree.
Dr. Baroline Trodd - January 17, 2007 08:14 PM (GMT)
Do you mean 'Going Missing' by Maximo Park? I love that song a lot, and it is quite Mac-ish...sorry, I interrupted while you were talking to MN.
I don't have very thoughtful eyes...I think it all rests on you.
oiyoupingpongman - January 17, 2007 08:14 PM (GMT)
Terry and Julie! Yes! I can sing along *phewf* Mac wont kill me after all...
