Anyone else up for this - maybe all together we could figure it out?

Maybe the producers might give us a prize if we're right..... ;) I'll post up my findings later!

*Edit* - Just watched the scene again, it looks like he says Philip.... anyone else got any thoughts?

I can't remember where, but other people on another forum were saying that they thought the vicar said Philip when everyone else coughed.

If you watch the vicars lips it looks like he is mouthing "Philip".....

He is mouthing something anyway.... there is definite lip movement! :)

I also must say that i thought it was Phillip... i do however hope that i am wrong as i do not think that it suits Mac at all! i mean Phill! Maybe that is why he doesn't use his 1st name though...*sits and thinks*

i know there is already a thread which is where they said his name was john :lol: i think that was the point in the cough - so that we never know his first name :blink: i don't thin the writers ever bothered to give him one - just so that people like us would sit here trying to figure it out :lol:

Nah I have watched it about 6 times now and the vicar says something ending with an 'ip' leading me to conclude that it is probably philip - the question is why?

Maybe it was a made-up word the vicar said. Or just a random one. Tulip. Although that is a name...hoping it's not Macs!

i have to say that it did look like phillip, but the vicar definately didn't say anything, he just mouthed something...but i did love the fact that martin asked the question we all wanted to know...lol...

i'd forgotten this thread and was idly watching his lips... and i could SWEAR it was philip1!

I think the chances are he was never given a name by the writers but, for filming, maybe the director told the man playing the vicar to say a name for ease of filming the scene because he couldn't very well not say a name when he was supposed to be doing so, yeah, maybe he is saying Phillip (ooh, my bf's name! :) ) but just because he had to say a name for that scene otherwise it wouldn't have looked right.

I dunno.
